Theprincipal will assume administrative responsibility and provide instructional leadershipunder the supervision of the Superintendent and in accordance with policies of theBoard of Education. The faculty and staff will assist in the orderly operation of theschool and assure the rights of students.Student rights and responsibilities in various areas related to the schoolexperience are discussed more fully below:AttendanceSchool administrators have an obligation under Alabama State Law to enforcecompulsory school attendance laws. According to <strong>Calhoun</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of EducationPolicy all students are encouraged to attend school on a regular basis.Student ResponsibilitiesTo take advantage of their educational opportunity by attending all classes daily and ontime.To provide the school with a written explanation and appropriate documentationindicating the reason(s) for an absence.To request make-up assignments from teachers within 3 days upon return to schoolfrom an excused absence and to complete this work within a reasonable amount of timeas determined by the teacher and/or school administrator.Student RightsTo be informed of Board of Education policies and individual school rules regardingabsenteeism and tardiness.To receive a verbal explanation concerning the status of an absence.To make up class work in accordance with Board policy when there is an excusedabsence.Guidance and Counseling5.06
