students of the schools of the School District to cooperatively plan and implementappropriate student activities to meet the needs of all students.All school sponsored student activities must have prior approval by the localschool principal, activity sponsor, and the Superintendent of <strong>Schools</strong>.All school sponsored student activities shall be under the control of the localschool principal or his designated representative.All school sponsored activities shall be adequately supervised by a member ormembers of the school professional staff.Adopted: 03/23/784.22TECHNOLOGY MISSION STATEMENTRealizing the profound importance of information technology to our future, thistechnology will be used across the curriculum as a teaching and learning tool to meetthe needs of all students including the gifted and those with special needs. Everyadministrator, teacher, and student in the <strong>Calhoun</strong> <strong>County</strong> School System will beprovided the necessary technology (equipment, software, and connectivity) andeducation to be a full participant in the receipt and transmission of electronic informationutilizing the appropriate technologies.The Technology Committee’s five-year plan will serve as system-wide plan forthe fulfillment of this mission. This plan will be refined and revised as needed to becurrent in the utilization of technology.Adopted: 02/22/96COPYRIGHT COMPLIANCEThe Board recognizes that federal law makes it illegal to duplicate copyrightedmaterials without authorization of the holder of the copyright, except for certain exemptpurposes. In addition, software is governed by licensing agreements setting forthpermissible uses. Severe penalties may be imposed for unauthorized copying or use ofaudiovisual or printed materials and computer software, unless the copying or useconforms to the “fair use” doctrine or to the software licensing agreement.Under the “fair use” doctrine regarding copyrighted materials, unauthorizedreproduction of copyrighted materials is permissible within certain limits for suchpurposes as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship or research. Tofall within the permissible bounds of fair use, duplication of a product for any of thestated purposes must meet the following general standards:THE PURPOSE AND CHARACTER OF THE USE.The use must be for such purposes as teaching or scholarship and must be nonprofit.4.23
