h. Coordinates orientation tours for students to trade school, industry andbusiness4. Follow-up Servicesa. Conduct drop-out studiesb. Conduct follow-up studies, studying students placed in trade and technicalschools and on jobs5. Public Relationsa. Since the vocational counselor is responsible for working with one or moreschools, the local trade school, post high school trade and technicalschools, industry and business, it is of paramount importance that thevocational counselor be a person skilled in public relations and be able tocreate a good working relationship and image of the school system toindustry and business.b. Must establish and maintain good rapport with classroom teachers inorder to effectively disseminate career information.Adopted: 03/34/78XVI.SPEECH THERAPIST AND/OR PATHOLOGISTQUALIFICATIONS: An Alabama Certification in Speech Therapy and/or PathologyREPORTS TO:Principal/Coordinator of Special EducationDuties and Responsibilities1. Responsible to the principal of the school to which assigned2. Will be assigned the same hours as the other teachers of the school. Anyexception to this rule must be approved by the Superintendent.3. Perform the duties as outlined in the Handbook, which is published by theState Department of Education on Speech, Hearing and Language.4. Become familiar with the professional responsibilities of the speech, hearing,and language pathologist as outlined in the State Handbook.5. The forms used for survey, testing and placement by the pathologist forpermission to screen, test and place shall be those designed and provided bythe Central Office.6. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and/or Coordinator ofSpecial Education.
