The Board, through the Superintendent, shall regularly disseminate informationabout rules, regulations, and policies. Board policies, rules, regulations, andamendments shall be made accessible to all employees of the school system, students,and members of the community, and shall be furnished to affected persons employedby the system within twenty (20) days after adoption.The Board may, by majority vote, temporarily suspend any policy not mandatedor required by law or contract.In situations not covered by Board policy, the Board authorizes theSuperintendent to take reasonable and prudent administrative action, subject to reviewby the Board.Adopted: 09/11/01BOARD MEETINGSThe <strong>Calhoun</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Education shall conduct all meetings inaccordance with the Alabama Open Meetings Act (OMA) and other applicable state andfederal law.Schedule of MeetingsThe Board of Education shall hold an annual organizational meeting in Novemberof each year, at which time a President and Vice-President shall be elected from themembership of the Board. A minimum of five (5) additional regular meetings shall beheld during the school year, in accordance with state law. A schedule of the plannedregular meetings of the Board shall be approved at the Board's organizational meeting,subject to change as necessary for such good and sufficient reasons as illness, lack ofquorum, inclement weather, or other similarly valid reasons. Designation of the time andplace for Board meetings shall be at the discretion of the Board.2.07The Board of Education shall hold special meetings at such place and time asthe duties and business of the Board may require. Special meetings may be called bythe Superintendent or Board President. Written request by a majority of the Boardmembers shall make it mandatory for the Board President to call a special meeting.Public NoticeExcept for executive sessions as permitted by the OMA, all meetings of theBoard shall be open to the public. The Board shall post notice of each meeting on thepublic bulletin board at the Board’s central office as soon as practicable, but in no eventless than 24 hours before the meeting is to begin, unless emergency circumstances asdefined by the Open Meetings Act allow for a shorter notice period. In such emergencysituations, notice shall be given as soon as practicable, but in no case less than onehour before the meeting is to begin. The Board further authorizes the Superintendent to
