The design of the sunscreening per facade is optimised to allow daylight to penetrate the space, reduce thermal accumulation andoptimise visual comfort. The distance and depth of louvres is influenced by setbacks resulting in an irregularfacade. The design aesthetic is inextricably linked to the influence of climatic parameters, user comfort andthe quality of the interior space.Figure 14.Building orientation in relation to the sun path [Doepel Strijkers, 2010]NORTH eastvertical plane 56° / - 124°direct sunlight on facade:(without obstacles)WEST northvertical plane 4° / -176°direct sunlight on facade:(without obstacles)Dec: --.--h - --.--h 0° - 0°March / Sept: 06.30 - 09.30h 0° - 26°June: 05.30 - 11.30h 0° - 51°21.30 - 22.00h 6° - 0°louvresDec: 12.30 - 16.30h 15° - 0°March /Sept: 12.30 - 18.30h 40° - 0°June: 13.30 - 22.00h 62° - 0°louvres4°SOUTH EASTvertical plane 116° / - 64°direct sunlight on facade:(without obstacles)176°124°56°116°Dec: 09.00 - 16.30h 0° - 15° - 0°March /Sept: 06.30 - 16.30h 0° - 40° - 20°June: 06.30 - 16.30h 8° - 62° - 48°louvres64°
