Instruction Manual for KLARO Modem KM12 V.12.367. Connecting the KLARO modem KM12 to adata processorA serial cable is required for the connectionof the KLARO modem KM12to a Windows computer. If no serialport is available at the computer,an additional USB-to-serial adapteris required which emulates a serialport. Furthermore, a SIM card as describedabove must be inserted intothe KLARO modem KM12. The connectedantenna must be positionedso that reliable reception is ensured.After having connected the antennaand the connecting cable to the computer,the KLARO modem KM12 canbe connected to the mains. After theSIM card is registered in the network,the KLARO modem KM12 can beaddressed through the KLARO@komsoftware (order no. 901309).If, during data connection, the connectedcomponent (calling party)cannot be disconnected from thedata circuit, the reset button must bepressed.This will interrupt the connection andthe modem must be restarted.7.1 Measuring signal quality by means of the Excel tool KLARO@komSignal quality can be measured bymeans of the KLARO@kom software:••Connect operational KLARO modemKM12 with the PC using thelap link cable••Change to the „service module“ inthe KLARO@kom software••Tick „CR“, enter the command„AT+CSQ“ and click on „Send manually“.••The result is shown in the „Receive“field with the digit before thecomma indicating reception quality:0 max. -113 dBm very bad1 -111 dBm2 - 30 -109…-53 dBm31 min. -51 dBm very good99 unknownTable 7: Signal qualityDetailed information is provided inthe KLARO@kom manual.
