ecolader: rapid discharger/charger series
Operating instructions for software V1.04, date of issue 05 MAY 1998
8.18 Correcting the cell count
Description:
This function allows you to override the ecolader's
automatic cell count calculation. The
number of cells, as calculated by the ecolader
automatically, or corrected manually
by the operator, is transferred to the winsoft
software and is used for battery analysis.
Activating the menu point:
Press the akku x button.
Select value:
Press the + or - button.
Value range:
1 cell ... 6 cells ... 8 cells
Confirm value:
Press enter
Interrupt:
Press esc
Notes:
The calculated cell count is used by the automatic
charge termination system to determine
the actual termination sensitivity, and
to calculate automatically the final discharge
voltage in the discharge process.
It is true that a slight mis-calculation in the
cell count makes it impossible to detect significant
capacity differences during the discharge
process, as the termination usually
occurs in the steeply falling section of the
voltage curve.
In the case of deep-discharged cells the cell
count is automatically corrected repeatedly
in the last few minutes of the charge process.
If you manually correct the cell count after
connecting the battery to the charger, the
unit will not make any further automatic corrections.
8.19 No. of cycles of
combination program
elektronik
gmbh
Page 23
Purpose:
Tired batteries have to be "got into training"
by repeated charge / discharge cycles. If a
pack is to be revived completely, the number
of cycles should be set higher or lower depending
on the age and condition of the pack.
Description:
This function is used to set the number of
cycles the combination programs xxx_DC
(see Section 8.15.6) and xxx_CD (see Section
8.15.7) are to complete during their
course. One cycle consists of two phases:
first the charge, then the discharge, or first
the discharge, then the charge phase.
Special feature:
The process of repeating the program "X"
times is concluded when the charger determines
no further rise in capacity during the
discharge process. In any case it finishes
after 9 cycles.
Activating the menu point:
Press the akku x button.
Select:
Press the + or - button.
Select range:
1 x ... 9 x (9 x = X times function)
Confirm select:
Press enter
Interrupt:
Press esc
Notes:
The xxx4DC program consists of 8 phases:
4 discharge phases (1, 3, 5, 7) and 4 charge
phases (2, 4, 6, 8). The ecolader select
transfers the number of the phase to the
comment segment of the winsoft software,
where it appears as a title to the diagram.
The number of the phase appears in brackets
in the status display during the charge /
discharge process. (hold the akku button
pressed in for one second).
If you are using a combination program the
charge time limit or the charge quantity limit
still apply - but for each phase separately!
After all, a 2000 mAh pack can still only absorb
2 Ah after three discharge / charge
cycles, and not 6 Ah.
