8.8 Termination temperature
Description:
This function has a dual purpose: it provides
extra safety when the charge is terminated
using the (voltage) peak detection
feature.
It can also be used as an independent
method of "battery full" charge termination.
Activating the menu point:
Press the akku x button.
Select value:
Press the + or - button.
Value range:
23° C ... 45° C ... 50° C.
Fixed temperature values:
41° C, 65° C (see notes below).
Confirm value:
Press enter
Interrupt:
Press esc
Notes:
The temperature limit values can be set
separately for each battery, but the charger
only has one temperature sensor, which
must be activated on a battery-specific basis
under the menu point Charge Termination
Criterion (see Section 8.12).
In addition a fixed, non battery-specific
temperature value of 65° C is active for the
whole device during every charge and discharge
process as an "emergency power
cut-off" system. Simply push the temperature
sensor into the battery to be monitored.
Moreover there is a non-selectable temperature
limit of 41° C which delays a discharge
process involving a battery above
this temperature until it cools down to below
this value; this only applies if temperature
termination has been selected.
The temperature sensor should be plugged
into the socket marked cal on the ecolader
+.
8.9 Termination delay
Decription:
This function is useful with cells which really
refuse to be charged by erroneously tripping
the peak detection system. It does this by
charging for the first few minutes without
checking the voltage peak.
Activating the menu point:
Press the akku x button.
Select value:
Press the + or - button.
Value range:
1 min ... 8 min ... 10 min.
Confirm value:
Press enter
Interrupt:
Press esc
Notes:
However, since the automatic charge termination
system is very reliable in operation,
and since a wide variety of termination criteria
are taken into account and analysed, this
function only needs to be activated in very
rare cases.
Entering a delay time does not immediately
result in a delayed activation of the automatic
charge termination system. This has to
include the additional "del." component in
the termination criterion (see Section 8.12).
