Collinear Reduction Clamp. For minimally invasive fracture reduction. The Collinear Reduction Clamp assistsin achieving and maintaining fracturereduction in minimally invasivetechniques. The system consists of:− Sliding mechanism− Attachable arms− Reduction attachmentsThe Collinear Reduction Clamp is usedfor long bone, articular and pelvic fracturetypes.Arms can be mounted in four different positionsto accommodate various fracture types.A single sliding mechanism accepts fourdifferent attachment arms.Reduction attachments for reduction against plates.Possible applicationsThe sliding mechanism accepts fourdifferent attachment arms. This allowsthe surgeon to create an optimalreduction tool according to the clinicalneeds.Hohmann-shape Arm,183 mm398.752Pelvic Arm225 mm398.7532 Synthes Collinear Reduction Clamp Handling Technique

2ReductionInstruments398.710 Disc, spiked, for reduction forceps292.001 Kirschner Wire 2.6 mm with spadepoint, length 500 mm, Stainless SteelSqueeze the trigger to advance the feed rod and reduce thebone fragments. The clamp can be closed in very fineincrements, allowing appropriate reduction of the fragments. The feed rod has a 3 mm cannulation, permitting insertion ofa guide wire to hold the reduction.Caution: Continued advancement of the feed rod may generateexcessive clamping forces. A spiked disc to help distributethe compressive forces is available (particularly on poorquality bone). The spiked disc can either be mounted on thetip of the percutaneous arm or on the tip of the feed rod.The bone hook-shape arm is compatible to the Synthes LargeExternal Fixator. Use combination clamps (390.005) toconnect two collinear reduction clamps to a carbon fibre rod(394.800-394.870).Synthes 5

Before using the reduction attachment, open it by screwing up the sleeve either by hand or byusing the Combination Wrench 13.0 mm (398.759). Tohelp holding the tip of the LCP reduction attachment, usethe combination wrench 8.0 mm (321.158).6 Synthes Collinear Reduction Clamp Handling Technique

3BAssemblyMount the reduction attachment like shown. Align the twolegs of the attachment to the flat surfaces of the feed rod.Start in a 90 degrees angle from below and slide the reductionattachment over the tip of the feed rod. The attachmentclicks into place as soon as it is in the right position.Secure the reduction attachment by screwing down thesleeve.123CDisassemblyFirst unscrew the sleeve of the reduction attachment eitherby hand or by using the combination wrench 13 mm398.759.Then push the release lever and pull back the feed rod untilthe reduction attachment falls off.Synthes 7

Handling Technique4ReleaseTo release the clamp, press the release lever and manuallyretract the feed rod. To remove the clamp after placing aguide wire into the bone through the cannulated feed rod, disconnect the attachment arm from the sliding mechanism.Note: Do not squeeze the trigger while pressing the releaselever, as this will not allow the feed rod to slide freely.8 Synthes Collinear Reduction Clamp Handling Technique

Clean the cannulated feed rod manually, using a 2.9 mm cleaning brush.Important: Lubricate the movable parts (e.g. clamp springof the sliding mechanism, couplings of attachment arms) ofthe Collinear Reduction Clamp after each use with autoclavableSynthes oil. After oiling, push the button on the attachmentcoupling and slide the feed rod several times toensure proper distribution of the oil. Before cleaning and sterilization, close the reductionattachment either by hand or by using the combinationwrench 8 mm (321.158) and the combination wrench 13 mm (398.759).Synthes 9
