She’s buriedin the Stockport, New York Cemetery, next to daughter, Susan, who married a Knight.Notes for BENJAMIN THOMAS: Family Lived next to John Lord in Ulster Co., then all were in Lordville on the1800 Census. After the death of his Mother, Elizabeth, Benjamin helped his father, especially taking care of Moses,he being 10 years old.When he purchased the lumbering tract, 1810 (court house records) they were living in Buckingham Co., Pennsylvania.After this purchase, they moved back to the Lordville area, he died shortly there after. He may be buried inthe old cemetery in Lordville, but there is no stone to tell for certain.More About BENJAMIN THOMAS and MARGARET LORD: Marriage: 29 Dec 1799, Prob. Lordville—Delaware Co.,NYNotes for MOSES THOMAS: Benjamin Thomas died, and Moses married the widow a few weeks short of the birthof her last child by her first husband, Moses’ brother. Margaret ultimately had 9 children by 2nd husband, MosesThomas. All grew up to manhood, except one, who, at three years old, fell into a spring and was drowned. Munsell1855 NY state census shows the birthplace of this couple.Moses not only took over the care and rearing of his dead brothers 7 children, he also took on the lumber tract, it’smortgage, selling the property in 1843 (court house records). When you realize Moses was some 11 years hisbrothers junior, about that much younger than Margaret, (Moses was 21 when they got married) you have to givehim a tremendous amount of credit—plus Margaret must have been some lady! This story was known in thefamily (not always happily), appeared in an early Hancock newspaper.
