CONCLUSIONSuccessful in vitro germination of seeds of three endemic species – Centaurea caliacrae, C.davidovii and C. finazzeri – was demonstrated. The germination rate of C. caliacrae seedswas high regardless of treatment with giberellin. The plants grew well in vitro on thephytohormone-free MS medium and could be used as an explant source for furtherexperiments, as well as for ex vitro adaptation, which proved to be easy, with a highsurvival rate. The PGR-supplemented media used stimulated mainly callus formation andsome shoot growth, especially when using the medium containing 0,5 mg/l BAP.
