Catalogue Sponsor:KAZENERGY EURASIAN FORUMKazakhstan: 20 years of sustainable growth, new horizons for investments and cooperationDear Participants, Ladies and Gentlemen,In 2011 the Republic of Kazakhstan will celebrate the 20thanniversary of its independence. Over the course of thoseyears, our country has established itself as a respectedsovereign state, and a full-fledged member of the worldcommunity known for its dynamic and stable development.Kazakhstan’s energy sector has made a significantcontribution to these processes, becoming not only thedriving force of economic growth and modernization inthe country, but also a strong example of cooperationbetween government institutions, foreign investors andprivate business.Since the early 1990s, annual production of oil andcondensate has grown almost four-fold to 79.7 MT, whichhas facilitated to a significant degree the more than tenfoldgrowth of the national economy. Through our joint efforts, we have almostdoubled Kazakhstan’s share of the global oil market, while with respect to uraniumthe country has become the world leader, producing 17,800 tonnes in 2010. By2015, annual domestic production of hydrocarbons will reach 95 MT of oil andcondensate, and more than 59 billion cubic metres of natural gas.The energy sector has developed a sustainable and dynamic structure: over the past20 years we have succeeded in attracting significant investment and balancing theinterests of oil and gas market participants, whether state-owned or private entities, domestic or foreign enterprises, transnational corporations or representatives ofsmall business. Today, our priorities are to develop innovation, strengthen localcontent and social responsibility, establish effective environmental protectionsystems, and achieve a synthesis between fundamental scientific research andindustrial infrastructure. In this respect, the title of the IV KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum is highly symbolic –“Kazakhstan: 20 Years of Sustainable Growth, New Horizons for Investment andCooperation.”I am confident that the forum will contribute to more effective cooperation betweenindustrially developed countries and countries that produce natural resources, andserve to develop mutual understanding and international partnerships.I wish the participants every success at the forum, and I hope the discussionsprove effective.Sincerely,Timur KulibayevCEO, JSC “National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna"13
