LION LOCAL NEWS by your roaring reporter
LION OF THE MONTH
This month LION is TREVOR DIXON. He is an active member for the past 9 years and has
been lion tamer for those years. He is always there to lend a hand in either setting up for a
function or helping with a B.B.Q.
Trevor has been to many of LIONS conventions and has dressed up as a sugar plum fairy (lion fundraising )
I have also been told he is pretty good on the dance floor, women seem to swoon around him especially a lady
named Corrine. His hobbies are gardening and helps out at the activity centre when he can. We would like to
thank Trevor for his participation in our club and hope he will be with us for many more years to come.
What a great day was had by all at the Morgan Christmas Fair & Pageant!
From early morning Classic Hits 5RM broadcast live from Morgan aboard one of Foxtale Houseboat’s luxury
boats, interviewing many of our local business identities and advertising Morgan’s special day. The Rusty Boys,
once again entertained us from early afternoon with their special brand of rock & roll music. There was a variety
of craft, food and amusement stalls on site along with the very popular rock climbing wall supplied and manned
by Scouts SA. Many climbed aboard The Navy Special Events Group‘s inflatable craft and the Navy tattoos
were highly sort after.
And then there was the Morgan Christmas Pageant announced with great gusto by the resplendent Town Crier,
Geoff Mattschoss. The magnificent SA Detachment of the Royal Navy Band dressed in their whites led the way
and it was great to see the fantastic spectacle put on by members of the Morgan Community and friends from
surrounding districts. Hayley Campbell, our Pageant Princess, did us all proud and we thank all those involved
in the 43 colourful floats, walkers, bikes etc for their extraordinary contributions.
And it was great to have Wack back to make sure we had every little detail covered & have the floats ready to
roll. Santa gave all the children goody bags prepared earlier by a contingent of wonderful Morgan ladies and we
thank them and everyone who donated so generously for the kids. Thanks to volunteers from Morgan & Cadell
CFS, Mid Murray Council, SA Ambulance, Waikerie St Johns, Uniting Church Choir and SAPOL,
This event would not be a success without the support of our special sponsors, local businesses and individuals
and we thank them on behalf of the Morgan Community.
