ERIC’S 80 TH Eric Barber turned 80 in January. His daughter Leanne and family, wanted to give him a big party. They chose the Morgan RSL to host the event where Eric is a popular member. Around 65 people attended - Eric’s family and friends, plus RSL members. It was a great night. Dougie ran the bar with the assistance of Ernie and Bruce. The most delicious meats, salads and desserts were served for supper, mainly organized by Leanne while the RSL ladies helped with some salads and desserts. There was lots of good music, laughter and jokes. Family members gave various speeches during the night. As Eric is the best dishwasher at the RSL, he was presented with his own apron, scourers and rubber gloves, plus a $60 voucher to spend at the Morgan Thrifty Link store. Eric was also presented with his own ÖBE and certificate. Towards the end of the night out came the Birthday cake. We all had to have a piece – not that we needed it with all we had eaten! It was truly a great evening, Eric grinning all night, surrounded by the people he loves and who love him. To a Great Gent!! M. Irvine. Never Underestimate a old man An elderly farmer in the Northern Territory had owned a large property for several years. He had a dam in one of the lower paddocks where he had planted mango and avocado trees. The dam had been fixed up for swimming when it was built and he also had some picnic tables placed there in the shade of the fruit trees. One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the dam to look it over, as he hadn't been there for a while. He grabbed a ten litre bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the dam, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his dam. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end. One of the women shouted to him, 'We're not coming out until you leave!' The old man 'I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the dam naked.' Holding the bucket up he said, 'I'm here to feed the crocodile.' Moral: Old men may walk slow, but they can still think fast 10 MORGAN RSL SUB BRANCH Last Reminder : The 2011 AGM will be held on Sunday February 6 th at 10.30am.
