Letters to the Editor
The following is in response to the letter to the editor sent by
Elly in the October 2012 edition of the McKenzie Gazette:
Dear Elly,
We feel your frustration with the
situation of certain teenagers living
on our street. Use of illegal drugs,
property damage, vehicle breakins,
disrespect, intimidating the
younger children are some of the
things that we have experienced.
Over the past five months we’ve
had both of our vehicles broken into
while parked on the driveway, only to have these people steal
whatever money might possibly be inside. In talking to other
families within our street, we find they also have experienced
similar events. Most disconcerting is their use of illegal drugs
out in the open with no attempt to conceal or hide their
actions. Over the past five months or so, the city police have
been visiting the home of these people. However after the
police leave, these teenage youths have no problem continuing
their works of disrespect, break-ins, smoke-ups, etc. as before.
There obviously is little respect for law and order.
Elly, what to do with this situation? Our suggestion is to
continue reporting these events to the Calgary Crime Stoppers
until something has finally been done about it. Also, keep the
discussions going with your fellow neighbours as a support
group until this problem is cleared. You are not alone.
