Community Your Official Newsletter News from the office LAurie JozSA MLCA direCtor I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! Our little preschoolers were adorable in their costumes for their parties! I would like to thank everyone who came out for our Annual General Meeting. It’s a good way to find out what is happening here at the Community Centre and to voice your opinion. We are looking for a few more board members so if you are interested please give us a call at the office. There are lots of exciting things happening and coming up in the next couple of months! Indoor soccer is in full swing and will finish up before Christmas. Ball Hockey will start in the second week of January so watch our website to sign up and if you would like to coach that would be great!! It is only an hour or so a week and it means so much to the children. Give it a try; no experience needed! We still need several volunteers to help with the casino on November 28 and 29th so please call us at the office and we will give you any information that you might need. You do not need any experience. Our Children’s Christmas Party is on December 1st and will be lots of fun with Comedian Ventriloquist, Val Hilliker performing and Children’s music specialist, Richard Hertert singing carols with the children! Of course, we will have a visit from Old St. Nick himself and each child will receive a gift! There will be a light meal, crafts, raffles and lots of fun for everyone! The tickets are $15.00 per child, aged 0-12, and they will be receiving a gift. Everyone else is free!! Don’t be disappointed; get your tickets early so you don’t miss out! Tickets are available in the office during office hours, 9-4:30 or give us a call to make other arrangements. Our last Movie in the Gym, September 8th, was lots of fun! Our next Movie in the Gym will be on December 8th and it will be a Christmas movie! There is no charge for the movie, but bring your loonies as there will be a loonie concession stand. We will be having our New Year’s Family Dance on December 29th. The tickets are $5.00 per child. All other family members are free. Get your tickets early as they will be limited and there will be no tickets available at the door. See you around! We meet monthly and have all vacancies recorded in our registry so it takes only one phone call for you to find out who has vacancies. We are looking for willing, committed volunteers to help maintain the ice at our community rink. No experience needed! Training will be provided so volunteers can effectively clear the snow and flood the rink as needed. With enough volunteers, we will be able to keep the ice open all winter. Community members will be welcome to drop by to teach their children to skate or start up a little hockey game with friends. It can truly be community ice space for all to enjoy! If you are able to volunteer for a few hours each week – or even each month – during the winter, please call the Community Centre at 403-257-1823. Thank you! Thank You!
