Why the sky is blue, how we get the flu!

Why tickling makes us laugh and onions make us cry. Why are chocolate pies, onion rings and fries More delicious than cauliflower, beans and broccoli? Why does summertime seem to fly on by? While it school it’s like every day’s an eternity! Seems everywhere I turn, I see questions there Floating up in the air around me, flitting like butterflies! And every time I grab one and catch his eye In his answer I always find there’s another WHY! Why do bullies tease everyone they please? Why do other kids cheer them on and join in making fun? If you win a fight, does it prove you’re right? Why is it so hard sometimes just to love someone? Someday I hope, when I grow up, I’ll know The answers to all those questions dancing around my brain! I guess till then, I’ll be wondering why and when And when they see me my friends will sigh, “there she goes again!” (Spoken over fade) Why are planets round? Why do things fall down? Why can’t they fall up instead? Can you tell me please? Why do roosters crow? How do glowworms glow? Why do our noses run? And why do people sneeze? Best Friends By Marla Lewis I was six and new at school, Alone at recess, feeling blue You said “hello” and asked me to Come play first base on your team I guess my grin lit up my face You laughed and yelled, “Go take your base!” From that day on I knew my place Was on the team with you If I’m a rainbow, then you’re the sun Shining all my lovely colors on everyone If I’m a paper, you’re the pen You bring out the best in me, you’re my best friend Now we’re in a harder class I’m good at writing, you like math You helped me draw a pictograph

We wrote a poem together You’ve got lizards, I have frogs, You’ve got cats and I have dogs Lizards, frogs, and cats and dogs – What a family! If I’m a rainbow, then you’re the sun Shining all my lovely colors on everyone If I’m a blossom, you’re the tree Always best friends, you and me (bridge) We keep our deepest secrets Share our weirdest dreams No one knows me better than you Or knows you better than me! Even when we’re 93 We’ll sit beneath the apple tree And share our favorite memories And laugh until we cry If I’m a rainbow, then you’re the sun Shining all my lovely colors on everyone If I’m a paper, you’re the pen You bring out the best in me, you’re my best friend If I’m a bluebird, then you’re my song That I’ll sing so sweet for you all my whole life long If I’m a blossom, you’re the tree Always best friends, you and me Muskrat Rap By Marla Lewis James: Look at that funny, furry creature over there. I’m not kiddin’, children, so listen: We Can’t Wait for Spring By Marla Lewis (SOUND OF COLD WIND BLOWING) Hey, guys, look. It’s snowing AGAIN. The old stuff hasn’t even melted yet! Yeah, I can’t remember what the ground underneath looks like! We definitely need a change! Yeah! Sky is gray, the trees are bare But Old Man Winter doesn’t care We can’t wait for spring! Snowball fights at first were fun Now we’re cold and wet and numb! We can’t wait for spring How we miss birds chirping in the trees The grass and the flowers, the buzzing of the bees, Soft ice cream, my softball team, And kites on miles of string… Months of darkness, sleet, and slush Winter, you’ve stayed long enough! We can’t wait for spring! Solo…. We can’t wait for Spring! Solo…. We can’t wait for Spring! How we miss splish-‐splashing in the rain Racing through a rainbow when the sun comes out again! Just to spy a butterfly Oh, we’d give anything! Boots and mittens, scarves and hats

Just follow me, Hawaii, here we come! (Solo over A, then continue The stars will be Our canopy The moon will softly glow And Ukulele Lula Will teach you how to hula If you’d like to know! Just follow me, Hawaii, Here we come! Home Again By Marla Lewis My name is Captain Galaxy This spaceship has been home to me For what seems like an eternity How I wish I were home again I’ve sailed through trails of shooting stars Seen mountains on Venus, volcanoes on Mars But every page of my memoir Says, “I wish I were home again!” (CHORUS) Wish I were home (HOME SWEET HOME) Wish I were home again Wish I were home (HOME SWEET HOME) Wish I were home again The stars like Christmas shine so bright I fly through a vacuum that’s blacker than night Travelin’ at the speed of light But I wish I were home again! At 0:500 I will land On a planet that’s never seen woman or man I’ll analyze the rocks and sand

But I wish I were home again CHORUS Gravity – a distant memory I float around, when I’m not strapped down! Workday ends – I miss my family and friends I miss the sun and the deep blue sky And New York City and Apple Pie LOOK! Who’s that on my TV screen? It’s the President! And she’s beaming at me! She says, “Your mission’s now complete And it’s time to come home again! “So turn back toward the Milky Way! Full speed ahead, Captain! Don’t delay! You’ll touch down by Saturday And we’ll welcome you home again.” Soon I’ll be home (HOME SWEET HOME) Soon I’ll be home again Can ‘t wait to be home (HOME SWEET HOME) Soon I’ll be home again! Round and Round By Marla Lewis Round like a button Round like a ball The plate on my table The clock on my wall Round like an orange A lemon, a lime A penny, a nickel A quarter, a dime! Round and round and round we go Where we stop, we’ll never know Spinning swiftly round the sun We’re suddenly back where we started from! Round like a planet A moon or a star Round like the wheel That turns my car A chocolate chip cookie A blueberry pie,

A pizza, a meatball Your head, your eye! Chorus (Solo over verse) Chorus Round like a ring Or a lollipop Round like a raindrop When it goes plop! Round like a zero Round like an O A frisbee, a CD, A Cheerio! Chorus
