In the Install Complete dialog box, click Done.The StarTeam Cross-Platform Client is installed in the specified folder, and theStarTeam_Cross-Platform_Client_2009_InstallLog.log file in that folder documents whathappened during the installation process.Installing on Linux or SolarisTo install the StarTeam Cross-Platform Client on Linux or Solaris:1. If installing from the DVD, please select the OS specific installation. If installing from a compressed packageplease decompress the install package.2. Run the StarTeamCP.bin file with the parameter LAX_VM to invoke the installer. For example,./StarTeamCP.bin LAX_VM /LAX_VM /usr/java/latest/jre/bin/java.Important: You must specify which VM to use when you installing on non-Windows operating systemssince the installers are Java based, and are not bundled with a VM. This also applies to StarTeamServer, EventTransmitter, MPX and Cache Agent (for example, server.bin, ca.bin, mpxserver.bin, andmpxservices.bin).3. Follow the directions on your screen.4. After installation, run the StarTeamCP executable located in the user_home_directory\StarTeamCP_2009 folder, or use the shortcut with the same name located in the directory selected during installation.44 | Installing StarTeam Clients

Installing on Other PlatformsTo install the StarTeam Cross-Platform Client on other platforms, use the Universal installation:1. Extract the universal *.tar.gz file to the desired location. This file is available for download from theBorland web site.2. Use the CD command to reach the installation's ./bin folder and run the setup script.This creates executablescripts in the same directory. Start StarTeamCP by running the "starteam" script.Automating Client InstallationsA silent install allows you to do multiple client installations at one time. You can run the client installer in a“silent” mode from the command line by adding the -i parameter to the command. Alternatively, you can pointto a text file called Installer.properties which includes the directive INSTALLER_UI=silent.The Installer.properties file can also specify parameters to pass to the installer, such as the destinationclient installation directory, the root directory for the SDK installation, which components to install, and whetheror not a restart is needed.Performing a Silent InstallNote: It is important to install the StarTeam client using a user that is an administrator on the computer.You can run the client installer in a “silent” mode using one of the following commands:1. starteamcp.exe -i silentUse default values for the destination directory, installation type, and so on.2. starteamcp.exe -f (path to installer.properties)Uses customized parameters specified in the installer.properties file.Orstarteamcp.exeNote: If the file installer.properties is placed in the same directory as the installer, the file mustinclude at least one line that is INSTALLER_UI=silent.The following table provides other possible silent installation options.IdentifierUSER_INSTALL_DIR=c:\\ProgramFiles\\Borland\\ StarTeamCross-Platform 2009ST_SDKROOT=c:\\Program Files\\BorlandRESTART_NEEDED=NOUSER_REQUESTED_RESTART=NOCHOSEN_INSTALL_SET=CompactDescriptionClient installation path.SDK installation path.
