ARAB / EUROPEAN COMMUNITY CERTIFICATES OF ORIGINHOW TO APPLY FOR ARAB and EUROPEAN COMMUNITYCERTIFICATES OF ORIGINSTEP 1: Complete a Formal Undertaking and read the Standard RulesTo obtain certified documents (Certificates of Origin), there is a requirement for your signatureto be held on file by us – the Issuing Body. Formal Undertaking must be completed and signedby a Proprietor, Director, Partner or Company Secretary and returned to the Chamber in originalform by post or by hand.In the Formal Undertaking the applicant (exporter) agrees to take responsibility for ensuring thecorrectness and accuracy of the information on the Certificate of Origin. This also includesproviding the Issuing Body with access to any relevant commercial information that may berequested from a statutory authority e.g. HM Revenue & Customs or other officials.The London Chamber of Commerce is not be able to issue a Certificate of Origin without acurrent Formal Undertaking, or if the signature of the person who signed the Certificate ofOrigin (or any other document to be certified or authenticated) is not on the FormalUndertaking.The formal undertaking must be renewed annually i.e. you do not need to provide a new FormalUndertaking with each application as long as the one held by the Chamber is current andcontains relevant signatures.STEP 2: Obtain a blank Certificate of Origin from the London Chamber of CommerceA Certificate of Origin is an original, pre-printed document supplied by the London Chamber ofCommerce. This applies to both manual and electronic applications.COMPLETE CERTIFICATE MANUALLYThe Certificate should be completed in typescript (If the Certificate has to be completed by hand,it must be clearly written using BLOCK letters). Please note, however, that certain countries maynot accept handwritten Certificates. Excel Template may be downloaded from the LCCI websiteto help reproduce the required information onto the original forms.
