DIOCESAN SCHOLARSHIP Full-time employees of the Youngstown Diocese are eligible for a scholarship that will reduce their percredit-hour<br />

charge. Student must present verification of full-time Diocesan employment. This scholarship is effective for all<br />

<strong>Walsh</strong> <strong>University</strong> credit programs, both undergraduate and graduate with the exception of Physical Therapy, which is an<br />

intensive, year-round program whose schedule does not allow for outside employment.<br />

CHOIR SCHOLARSHIP Awarded to students with outstanding vocal abilities who will participate in the <strong>University</strong> Chorale. The<br />

number of awards are determined by the Chorale Director. Students who are interested should contact the Director.<br />

CAMPUS MINISTRY SCHOLARSHIPS Funded by the Brothers of Christian Instruction, this scholarship program seeks students who<br />

actively commit to the mission of Campus Ministry through exemplifying their faith in Jesus Christ.<br />

GRANTS (INSTITUTIONAL)<br />

CHILDREN OF ALUMNI ARE VERY SPECIAL (CAVS) Grant A $1,000 grant will be awarded to full-time dependents of <strong>Walsh</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> graduates. CAVS Grants are renewable for three years to recipients maintaining a 3.0 minimum cumulative grade<br />

point average.<br />

ATHLETIC GRANTS Athletic grants are awarded to outstanding athletes who agree to participate in an intercollegiate sport for the<br />

<strong>University</strong>. The number of awards and the amounts are determined by coaches and the Athletic Director. Students with athletic<br />

abilities who are interested in participating in intercollegiate athletics must contact the coach of that particular sport.<br />

SIBLING GRANT A $1,000 award will be granted to brothers or sisters entering as full-time undergraduate students, of any student<br />

currently enrolled full time in an undergraduate program at <strong>Walsh</strong> <strong>University</strong>. An award for multiple siblings is also available.<br />

GRANTS (FEDERAL)<br />

Before receiving any federal assistance, a student must file a FAFSA and meet the following general eligibility requirements, as<br />

well as those requirements which are unique to each program.<br />

In order to comply with the general requirements, a student must:<br />

• Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program studying for a degree or certificate;<br />

• Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States;<br />

• Must not be in default on a previous federal student loan;<br />

• Maintain satisfactory academic progress in his/her course of study according to the institution’s established standards of<br />

satisfactory progress. <strong>Walsh</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy can be found on page 24.<br />

FEDERAL PELL GRANT The Federal Pell Grant is designed to assist needy students to continue their education beyond high school.<br />

The amount of the grant, which need not be repaid, is determined by the student’s need and the cost of attendance at the<br />

school. Application is made each year by completing the FAFSA. Graduate students and students who have previously earned<br />

a bachelor’s degree are not eligible for this program.<br />

Students must make satisfactory academic progress as determined by <strong>Walsh</strong> <strong>University</strong> in order to receive the grant. Grant<br />

amounts are reduced proportionately for students enrolled less than full time.<br />

FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT (FSEOG)<br />

This program is available to undergraduate students with substantial financial need. Preference is given to those students<br />

receiving a Pell Grant. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by <strong>Walsh</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Graduate<br />

students and students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree are not eligible for this program. Application is made<br />

each year by completing the FAFSA.<br />

GRANTS (STATE)<br />

OHIO INSTRUCTIONAL GRANT PROGRAM (OIG) The Ohio Instructional Grant, a financial aid program administered by the State of<br />

Ohio, is designed to assist eligible needy students.<br />

Ohio Instructional Grants are awarded to eligible Ohio residents, based on need. Application is made each year by completing<br />

the FAFSA. The amount of the grant may be used to cover only instructional and general fees. Eligible students generally<br />

may receive the grant for a maximum of five years.<br />

Graduate students, part-time students, and students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree are not eligible for the<br />

program. All grant recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by <strong>Walsh</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

OHIO STUDENT CHOICE GRANT The State of Ohio will award a grant to a resident of Ohio who is enrolled as a full-time student<br />

in a bachelor’s degree program at a private institution. Ohio residency requirements are also extended to parents of dependent<br />

students. Application is made each year by completing the <strong>Walsh</strong> <strong>University</strong> Application for Financial Aid.<br />

No grant shall be awarded to any student enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree in theology, religion, or other field<br />

of preparation for a religious profession.<br />
