Alexis Hall is a three-story residence hall providing comfortable accommodations for about 200 students. This 1st year building
features double-occupancy rooms. Each two-room suite includes a private bathroom and shower. Fully carpeted, the rooms have
twin, loftable beds as well as desk, chairs, dressers, sinks, and closets.
Alexis Hall also features a game room, computer lab, a television lounge, and a laundry facility.
As many as three students may occupy one double-occupancy room in either Alexis or Menard due to fluctuations in enrollment.
Triples are usually a temporary situation with a discount in cost provided after three weeks.
Lemmon Hall, opened in 1995, offers apartment-style suites, complete with kitchenettes. A meeting room, computer lab and laundry
facilities are located on the first floor. Students with disabilities or special needs are encouraged to apply for housing in
Lemmon Hall.
Brauchler, Meier and Stein Halls offer apartment style living with a focus on privacy. Each 1,200 square-foot apartment comes
with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, a private bedroom for each resident, and a bathroom for every two students.
The Marie and Ervin Wilkof Towers offers single-room, double-room, and suite style accomodations for 140 students. Each room
is equipped with twin size loftable beds, dressers, desk, a private bathroom and shower, a refrigerator, and a microwave. A weight
room and computer lab are also located in this facility.
All first-year, traditional-aged students are required to live in Alexis or Menard Halls, both of which are single gender, alcoholfree,
and smoke-free environments. Upperclass students live either in University Apartments, Menard or Lemmon Halls. Both
Menard and Lemmon offer coed floors. Each living environment is staffed by an undergraduate Resident Advisor. Hall Directors
supervise each living area under the supervision of the Director of Residence Life.
If space permits, private rooms are available in each hall at an additional cost per semester.
All student rooms are equipped with telephone and internet connection. Students must provide their own phone and computer, if
desired.
JUDICIAL AFFAIRS
The mission of the Walsh University judicial system is to foster a sense of responsibility for personal and community standards
through education and personal accountability. This is achieved by ongoing review and response to violations of University policies
and procedures including, but not limited to, Residence Hall policies, student association regulations, inappropriate behavior
in campus buildings and on campus grounds, and at any University sponsored event.
The Associate Dean of Students is responsible for the implementation and review of the judicial process at Walsh University. An
opportunity also is provided each year for students to serve as members of the Student Life Judicial Board. This opportunity
involves an application, interview, and training program. Any questions regarding the University’s judicial process can be forwarded
to the Associate Dean of Students, David Campus Center, at 330-490-7301.
THE ACADEMIC SUPPORT CENTER
The Academic Support Center serves the student body, beginning with the students in transition to college from secondary school
and proceeding all the way to graduation. The Center includes the Learning Resource Center, the Writing Center, Freshman
Advising, and the Structured Education Program all of which are described below and housed in Farrell Hall. This arrangement
will give the freshmen in particular one central place to find a variety of forms of assistance in this most critical time in their academic
lives.
STRUCTURED EDUCATION PROGRAM (SEP)
As an institution, Walsh University accepts only those students who can be successful in college. However, some students will
need initial focused academic work before starting in their programs. To this end, first-year students who place into both English
100/111 and Math 100 will automatically be enrolled in the Structured Education Program (SEP), which provides added academic
support and focused advising through unified learning communities. Students in SEP may register for up to fifteen credit hours in
their first semester, which will include English 111, Math 100, and English 110, a study skills course with a tutoring component
(consult the course description for further information). In addition, SEP students will be required to meet with a qualified college
counselor for five sessions during the semester. This structured support environment has been proven to aid students in establishing
a sound learning foundation for their collegiate academic work.
ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Academic Assistance Program coordinates peer tutoring and addresses time management and study skills for students on academic
probation. The faculty work with freshmen and sophomores as one group, and juniors and seniors as a second group in
addressing academic needs. Walsh University provides this program to assist students in achieving their academic goals and work
toward graduation. The faculty and staff meet with each student to identify their needs in subject areas and skill training. They provide
assistance, as needed, to help each student be successful.
