What is <strong>JDBC</strong>?<strong>JDBC</strong> (Java Database Connectivity) is a standard Java interface for connectingto relational databases from Java. The <strong>JDBC</strong> standard was defined by SunMicrosystems, allowing individual providers to implement and extend thestandard with their own <strong>JDBC</strong> drivers.Based on the X/Open SQL Call Level Interface, <strong>JDBC</strong> complies with the SQL92Entry Level standard.In addition to the standard <strong>JDBC</strong> API, the <strong>Cincom</strong> ORDB driver has extensions toallow access to special features and functions provided by the <strong>Cincom</strong> ObjectRelational Database.
