<strong>Faiths</strong> <strong>and</strong> Further Education:A H<strong>and</strong>bookSupport StructuresIn order to ensure effective delivery <strong>of</strong> these services:The Chaplaincy:• in collaboration with the college, one <strong>of</strong> its members isdesignated to co-ordinate the service• has a monitoring system in place <strong>and</strong> presents an annual report,including statistics, to the reference group (see below)• is committed to encouraging continuing pr<strong>of</strong>essionaldevelopment for all Chaplaincy staff• maintains good communication with all college structuresthrough:- regular meetings between the co-ordinator <strong>and</strong> Head <strong>of</strong>Student Services – at least two a term- termly meetings between the co-ordinator <strong>and</strong> the assistantprincipal (Quality)- representative attendance at Student Services team meetings- participation in other committees <strong>and</strong> forums as appropriate- occasional meetings with principal- other such meetings as may from time to time prove necessary- appropriate liaison with external bodies.The College:• recognises <strong>and</strong> works with the chaplains, giving them recognitionas associate staff• provides Ecumenical Chaplaincy Team premises, giving essential<strong>of</strong>fice <strong>and</strong> meeting space for chaplains, with students <strong>and</strong> staff• provides administrative <strong>and</strong> secretarial support for the team• provides appropriate funding• co-operates in arranging Chaplaincy participation in the meetingslisted above• includes information about the services provided by Chaplaincyin all the appropriate publicity materials.Reference GroupA Reference Group meets annually. It has two functions; to:• review the service provision as described in this document interms <strong>of</strong> considering whether there are new or developingservices needed that should now be included in the agreement<strong>and</strong> what, if any, additional resources might be needed• receive an annual report from the Chaplaincy <strong>and</strong> liaise with bothparties to ensure that both the provision <strong>of</strong> services <strong>and</strong> thesupport structures are functioning as they should.The membership <strong>of</strong> the reference group is as follows:Chaplaincy:College:AppointmentsMembers <strong>of</strong> the Chaplaincy TeamHead <strong>of</strong> Student Services, a member <strong>of</strong> the StudentUnion Executive, an academic staff member, anadministrative staff memberChaplains are appointed by the faith communities <strong>of</strong> which theyare part, but it is agreed by all parties that prior consultation with,<strong>and</strong>, where appropriate, involvement in, the selection process by theChaplaincy Team <strong>and</strong> the college is an essential part <strong>of</strong> theappointment process.SignatoriesThe Principal___________________________________________The Chaplaincy Co-ordinator___________________________________________Date___________________________________________
