JUNE'~20, <strong>1950</strong>Pursuant to a recess order on June 13, <strong>1950</strong>, the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen met at the <strong>City</strong>Hall at 7:30 P. B8b~and Linder Fudge, petitioning for the construction <strong>of</strong> curbs and gutters along both sides <strong>of</strong>Johnson Avenue, South 16th Street and Garfield Avenues in Section 28, Township 8 South, ,Range 3 West in <strong>Oxford</strong>, Lafayette County, Mississippi, the Mayor and 'Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen instructejIFthe <strong>City</strong> Engineer to prepare the necessary plans and specifications for the said improvementsand the <strong>City</strong> Attorney to prepare and submit at the next regular meeting <strong>of</strong> the said governingbody the resolution declaring necessary the proposed improvement describing the nature andthe eXtent <strong>of</strong> the work, the general character <strong>of</strong> the material to be used and the 1dcationand terminal points <strong>of</strong> the street and avenues in which improbements are to be made.On motion made, seconded and passed tmanimouslY it'; was ordered that a taxi driver'spermit be issued to A1 J. Kuljis. Permit No. 118 was assigned to Mr. Ku1jis.On motion made, seconded and passed, it was ordered that the bill submitted to theMayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen by Memphis Machine Works in the amount <strong>of</strong> $274.76 be allowedand the <strong>City</strong> Clerk is hereby authorized to issue a warrant hi the' above' amount in payment<strong>of</strong> account.On petition <strong>of</strong> W. M. Abernathy, C. M. Murray, John R. Holley, Joseph B. Rogers, R. L.Chapman, Jr., O. H. Douglass, W. G. McWilliams and Ben J. Hilbun, for curbs and guttersalong Douglass Drive in <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen referredthe petition to the <strong>City</strong> Attorney for redrafting in line with the statute, the preparation<strong>of</strong> the necessary plans and specifications by the <strong>City</strong> Engineer, and the draftingand presentation by the <strong>City</strong> Attorne,y <strong>of</strong> the resolution declaring neoessary and proposedimprovements describing the nature and extent <strong>of</strong> the work, the general character <strong>of</strong> thematerial to be used, and the location and terminal points <strong>of</strong> the street, or avenue, ordrive on which the improvements are to be made.Came on for consideration the matter <strong>of</strong> employing two full time night firemen, motionwas made by Alderman A. H • Avent, seconded by Alderman W. T. Chandler, and affirmativelyvoted for by the four aldermen present, it is hereby ordered by the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> A1dermenl ..<strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi that Moody Nelson !'!.nd T.inder Fudge be employed by the <strong>City</strong> ::as firemen for night duty at a salary <strong>of</strong> $150.00 ppr.month.A RESOLUTION RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING AN EXECUTED CONTRACT WITH THE TENNESSEE VALLEYAUTHORITY FOR THE PURCHASE FOR RESALE OF ELECTRIC Pa-lER OR CURRENTjE' AND FOR OTHERPURPOSES.Whereas, the Tennessee ValleY Authority did on December 20th, 1949 make proposalsIito the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi for providing electric service to the said city and vi-cinity; IiWhereas, the proposal was submitted to the people <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi at a speoia1election called to determine their wishes thereon; and,Whereas, the qualified voters, or electors <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi decided that the<strong>of</strong>ficials <strong>of</strong> said <strong>City</strong> should contraot with the Tennessee Valley Authority for the purchasefor resale <strong>of</strong> electric power or current; and,II'ii'il
