Malone, <strong>City</strong> Marshal*** *** ***After the meeting had been opened according to law, the following business was transacted:W. L. Heard appeared before the Board requesting that the <strong>City</strong> install a storm sewer to carrythe water which runs through the present <strong>City</strong> drainage ditch running through his property fromthe storm sewer inlet on South 11th Street. On the motion <strong>of</strong> Alderman Hilbun, seconded byAlderman Sisk and passed unanimously it was ordered that the drainage ditch be fixed in accordancewith recommendations <strong>of</strong> Mr. lANe, <strong>City</strong> Engineer.The Mayor and Board entered into a discussion <strong>of</strong> the present need <strong>of</strong> cash on hand for currentexpenditures <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> government. It was brought out that certain revenues and taxes wouldbe 8V1lilable within the near future to take care <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>'s current expenditures; however,it was decided that the sum <strong>of</strong> $25,000.00 would be necessary in order for the <strong>City</strong> to meetimmediately its current obligat: cns and that a loan for such amount should be negotiated. Onmotion <strong>of</strong> Alderman Sisk, seconded by Alderman Hilbun it was moved that the Mayor be authorizedto negotiate a loan in the maximum amount <strong>of</strong> $25,000.00 for the <strong>City</strong> and that he be authorizedfurther to execute the necessary promissory notes or any other paper to secure the said indebtedness.Motion was carried tmanimously.On motion made, seconded and passed lmani mously it was ordered that the assessment ot Jamesand Rosa Lee Wilkins as shown on page 107, line 29, be reduced as follow: building - from $1500to $1000.On motion made, seconded and passed unanimouiy it was agreed that the white-way lights around theCourt House would be repaired with the <strong>City</strong> turnish1ng the labor and the County Board <strong>of</strong>Supervisors furnishing the materials.After a discussion <strong>of</strong> plans tor building the new substation, Mr. C.E. Harrison, Supt. Light &Water Department, recemm.ended that an advertisement tor bids for materials to build it be placedin the OXFORD EAGLE. OJi IlOtion <strong>of</strong> Alderman Avent, seconded by Alderman Hilbun and passedunanimously it was ordered. that this recommendation be accepted.On motion made by Alderman Sisk, seconded by Alderman Avent and }:8ssed unanimously it was orderedthat.. advertisement for bids on 110 water meters be placed in the OXFORD EAGlE •On motion made, seconded. and passed. unanimously it was ordered that the bondsmen on $500.00 bondtor Flavil H. Dalton, taxi driver's permit No. 93 issued 12-28-48, be released, said bondcancelled and a new bond signed. by W. W. East and Earl Fudge be accepted in its stead.
