MorganClerk************************The }~yorand Board of Aldermen took up for consideration a certainresolution adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Oxford Separate SchoolDistrict of Lafayette County, Mississippi on the 29th day of November, 1951requesting the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Oxford, Mississippito call an election on a proposal to issue bonds of said Oxford SeparateSchool District of Lafayette County, Mississippi in the amount of ThreeHundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($350,000.00) for the improvement ofschool facilities. Foll~ling a discussion of the subject Alderman R. W.Hickey offered and moved the adoption of the following resolution:A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE MAYOR AND BOARDOF ALDERIiEN OF THE CITY OF OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI TO ISSUE THEBONDS OF THE OXFORD SEPARATE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF LAFAYETTECOUNTY, MISSISSIPPI IN THE Al-fOUNT OF $350,000.00 FOR THE PUR­POSE OF PROVIDING FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF SCHOOL FACILITIES INSAID DISTRICT, AND CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF ANELECTION THEREON.~Thereas,on the 29th day of November, 1951, the Board of Trustees of theOxford Separate School District of Lafayette County, Mississippi did adopt acertain resolution requesting the ~myorand Board of Aldermen to call anelection to determine whether or not the bonds of said District shall beissued in the amount of Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($350,000.00)for the purposes of erecting, repairing, equipping, remodelling and enlargingschool buildings and related facilities, including auditoriums, lunch roomsvocational training building and libraries; andWhereas, under the laws of the State of Mississippi the said Mayorand Board of Aldermen are authorized and empowered to call an election onthe aforesaid proposition, and to issue such bonds in the event that theproposal for the issuance thereof be assented to by 3/5thsof the qualifiedelectors of the District voting on such proposition at such election, andproviding that the amount of such indebtedness, when added to all of theoutstandin gbonded indebtedness of the district, shall not exceed 15 percentum of all assessed value of the taxable property within the districtaccording to the last completed assessment for taxation; and
