MorganClerk************************The }~yorand Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen took up for consideration a certainresolution adopted by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Oxford</strong> Separate SchoolDistrict <strong>of</strong> Lafayette County, Mississippi on the 29th day <strong>of</strong> November, 1951requesting the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippito call an election on a proposal to issue bonds <strong>of</strong> said <strong>Oxford</strong> SeparateSchool District <strong>of</strong> Lafayette County, Mississippi in the amount <strong>of</strong> ThreeHundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($350,000.00) for the improvement <strong>of</strong>school facilities. Foll~ling a discussion <strong>of</strong> the subject Alderman R. W.Hickey <strong>of</strong>fered and moved the adoption <strong>of</strong> the following resolution:A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE MAYOR AND BOARDOF ALDERIiEN OF THE CITY OF OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI TO ISSUE THEBONDS OF THE OXFORD SEPARATE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF LAFAYETTECOUNTY, MISSISSIPPI IN THE Al-fOUNT OF $350,000.00 FOR THE PUR­POSE OF PROVIDING FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF SCHOOL FACILITIES INSAID DISTRICT, AND CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF ANELECTION THEREON.~Thereas,on the 29th day <strong>of</strong> November, 1951, the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees <strong>of</strong> the<strong>Oxford</strong> Separate School District <strong>of</strong> Lafayette County, Mississippi did adopt acertain resolution requesting the ~myorand Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen to call anelection to determine whether or not the bonds <strong>of</strong> said District shall beissued in the amount <strong>of</strong> Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($350,000.00)for the purposes <strong>of</strong> erecting, repairing, equipping, remodelling and enlargingschool buildings and related facilities, including auditoriums, lunch roomsvocational training building and libraries; andWhereas, under the laws <strong>of</strong> the State <strong>of</strong> Mississippi the said Mayorand Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen are authorized and empowered to call an election onthe aforesaid proposition, and to issue such bonds in the event that theproposal for the issuance there<strong>of</strong> be assented to by 3/5ths<strong>of</strong> the qualifiedelectors <strong>of</strong> the District voting on such proposition at such election, andproviding that the amount <strong>of</strong> such indebtedness, when added to all <strong>of</strong> theoutstandin gbonded indebtedness <strong>of</strong> the district, shall not exceed 15 percentum <strong>of</strong> all assessed value <strong>of</strong> the taxable property within the districtaccording to the last completed assessment for taxation; and
