SEFTEHBER 17, 1951Pursuant to a recess order entered on Sentember 11, 1951, the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong>Aldermen met on September 17, 1951, in the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen s Chamberin the <strong>City</strong> Hall, when and where the following were present:'.,IR. Fulmer, Deputy <strong>City</strong> Clerk*********************After the meeting had been opened according to law, the following business was hadto-wit:Mr. Harrison brought to the attention <strong>of</strong> the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen the need forwater meters and after a discussion <strong>of</strong> the matter, Alde~~n B. O. Elliott moved thatan invitation for bids on 50 water meters be published in The <strong>Oxford</strong> Eagle. This motionwas seconded b.Y Alderman W. T. Chandler, carried unanimously and it is so ordered.*****************************Guy B. Taylor appeared before the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen representing the LafayetteCounty Fair Association asking for a contribution to the Fair Association and after adiscussion <strong>of</strong> the matter, Alderman B. O. Elliott made a motion that the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Oxford</strong> contribute the same amount as said <strong>City</strong> contributed to the Fair Associationfor the year <strong>1950</strong>, said amount being $300.00. This motion was seconded by AldermanW. T. Chandler, passed unanimously and the <strong>City</strong> Clerk is hereby authorized to issuea check in the amount <strong>of</strong> $300.00 for said purpose.**************************The remainder <strong>of</strong> the time was spent in the equalization <strong>of</strong> the 1951 Tax Roll.*************************On motion made, seconded and passed unanimously, it was ordered that this Board do nowrecess until 7:30 P. M., Tuesday, September 18, 1951.
