I got down into the open d'itch to assistin letting a joint down into place, but, because <strong>of</strong> row size andthe narrowness <strong>of</strong> the ditch, the pipe would not go down,' wedging againstmy stomach and the ditch bank, and causing an umbilical hernia to developein my body, and resulting in much physical pain and mental suffering,as well as loss <strong>of</strong> time and incapaciting me to do heavylabor.I acknowledge hereby the payment to me, in aqdition to theSeven Hundred and Fifty ($750.(10) Doa11ars hereinabove paid, the paymentby The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, <strong>of</strong> the straight time Iwould have made had I not been injured as aforesaid, ,.rith regard towhether I worked or not, since the date <strong>of</strong> :my injury as aforesaid.And I hereby accept the said sum <strong>of</strong> $750.00 in full satisfaction,acquittance and discharge <strong>of</strong> all claims I may have against the saidTHE CITY OF OXFORD, <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississirpi, and/or its Agents and Employees,growing out <strong>of</strong> or in any manner connected with the cause or matterabove set forth; and do contract and agree that the payment <strong>of</strong> saidamount shall operate as a perpetual bar to any suit or other processfor the collection <strong>of</strong> enforcement <strong>of</strong> said claim, and shall be in fulldischarge, compromise and se~t1ement <strong>of</strong> any cause or suit which may havebeen instituted by me and be pending before any court or tribunal againstsaid THE CITY OF OXFORD, <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, or any judgement or decreewhich may heret<strong>of</strong>ore have been entered or obtained in my favor againstsaid <strong>City</strong>, arising or growing cut <strong>of</strong> the claim or demand set forth above.It is hereby expressly amdexstOOd 2nd agreed The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, <strong>Oxford</strong>,Mississippi is under no obligation or requirement to take or retain mein its employment or service in any position or capacity whatever.Witnesses:Given under' my hand and seal, this the 1st day <strong>of</strong> Nov. , <strong>1950</strong>./sl J.
