Sisk, Alderna.n Ward ThreeT. E. Combs, Alderman Ward Four******************C. E. Harrison, Superintendent Light and Water Dept.E. P. Love, <strong>City</strong> EngineerC. F. Fulmer, Deputy Clerk and Tax Collector*****************Came on for consideration the matter <strong>of</strong> building the foundation for the <strong>City</strong> Substation,and after a full discussion <strong>of</strong> the matter, motion was made, seconded and passed unanimouslyand it was ordered that Mr. Harrison, Superintendent <strong>of</strong> the Light and water Department,proceed with said foundation at Light Plant with <strong>City</strong> labor.*******************Came on for consideration the matter <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> the occupants <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Veterans HousingUnit desiring to install nauura1 gas and it came to the attention <strong>of</strong> the Mayor and Board<strong>of</strong> Aldermen that some <strong>of</strong> the tenants were using Butane gas. It being a violation <strong>of</strong> therules and regulations <strong>of</strong> the United Gas Corporation to install natural gas where ButaneGas is being used, Alderman Avent made a motion that the users <strong>of</strong> BUtane Gas be notifiedto eliminate Butane Gas from their apartments and convert to natural gas. This motionwas seconded by Alderman Sisk and passed unanimously.**********************Came on the matter <strong>of</strong> settlement with Paul l4uJ.lis on a claim by him to personal injuriessustained by him on or about <strong>January</strong> 10, <strong>1950</strong> while assisting in laying some heavy metalwater main pipe,s on Tyler Avenue between Fifth and Ninth Streets in the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>,Mississippi. Mayor Williams reported that Mr. Mullis was agreeable to a full, final: andcomplete settlement <strong>of</strong> all claims he had on account there<strong>of</strong>. Alderman Combs moved thatthe Mayor be au:lihorized to settle with Mr. Mullis at and for the sum <strong>of</strong> $750.00, if MrsMullis would join in the release. Alderman Hilbun seconded the motion, and on vote <strong>of</strong>the four members <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen present the motion was carried.Following is a copy <strong>of</strong> Warrant No. 7811 making the settlement and the release there<strong>of</strong>atached:THE CITY OF OXFORD, HIISSISSIPPIMAYOR'S OFFICENUMBER 7811OXFORD, MISS;To the <strong>City</strong> Depository:Pay to Paul Mullis, or order SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOlLARD($750.00)On account and in full, complete and final settlement <strong>of</strong>all claims, demands and liabilities Paul Mullis has or may haveagainst the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi for, and on accountor growing out <strong>of</strong> injuries sustained by the said Paul Mullis, whileassisting in laying water main on Tyler Avenue, between 5th and 9thStreets in The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, on or about <strong>January</strong> 10th,<strong>1950</strong>.
