This donation to be used to buy uniforms for the members <strong>of</strong> theUniversity High School Band. Alderman Ben J. Hilbun made a motion that this request berecommended to the School Board that said School Board donate the $750.00 through SchoolFund. This motion was seconded by A. H. Avent and passed unanimously.******************************************************On motion made by H. S. Sisk, seconded by A. H. Avent and passed unanimously, it 'Wasordered that the <strong>City</strong> buy several transformers from the Mississippi Power and Light Company,Jackson, Mississippi****************************************************Mrs. B. K. Collins requested the <strong>City</strong> to replace or pay for bed borrowed by the <strong>City</strong>some time ago and not r~turned. Motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously thatMrs. Collins be given'one <strong>of</strong> the V. H. A. beds.*****************************************************Came on for consideration the matter <strong>of</strong> the 'disposal <strong>of</strong> the V. H. A. furniture, and afterdue discussion Alderman Ben J. Hilbun moved that a sale for the furniture be arranged at thePower House, and this sale be advertised for 30 days before the sale. This motion wasseconded by T. E. Combs and passed unanimously.*****************************************************On motion <strong>of</strong> Alderman Ben J. Hilbun, seconded by A. H. Avent and passed unanimously,it was ordered that the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong> dOIlfte $250.00 to the Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce forthe Homecoming Program, and an additional 50.00 be donated if' needed.,********************i~********************************Request 'WaS received from Billy Gates, Program Director <strong>of</strong> University football, toadvertise the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong> at games this season. Upon motion <strong>of</strong> Alderman H. S. Sisk,seconded by Alderman A. H. Avent, and unanimously carried, it was ordered that the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Oxford</strong> be advertised at all four <strong>of</strong> the games, and that $175.00 be donated for thisadvertisement.***********************************************Mr. W. Ire. Mills requested that he be given a salary increase <strong>of</strong> $15.00 per month. Onmotion <strong>of</strong> A. H. Avent, seconded by Ben J. Hilbun, seconded by Alderman T. E. Combs and unanimously carried, it was orderedthat Mr. Slaughter's Taci Permit # 63 be cancelled.**********************************************J. E'. Hicks appeared before the Board requesting an increase in salary ,and upon motion<strong>of</strong> Alderman T. C. Combs, seconded by H. S. Sisk and carried unanimously, it was orderedthat Mr. Hicks be given in increase <strong>of</strong> $15.00 per month retroactive to September lst.******************************************Came on for consideration the matter <strong>of</strong> work on North 9th Street, and after a discussion, Alderman W. T. Chandler made a motion, seconded by Ben J. Hilbun that all work on saidstreet be stopped until the property owners along said street file a petition £or pavingand placing curbs and gutters along street. This motion carried' three to one and the'following vote was tabulated: 'Alderman W. T. Chandler voted YeaAlderman Ben J. Hilbun voted YeaAlderman A. H. Avent voted YeaAlderman T. E.
