As required by Section 3239 <strong>of</strong> the Mississippi Code <strong>of</strong> 1942,, ,we, the undersigned, did meet at the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the Registrar in <strong>Oxford</strong>,Mississippi, on the 31st day <strong>of</strong> August,<strong>1950</strong>, being five days before the'JIdate <strong>of</strong> the aforesaid election, and carefully revised the registration booksand the poll books, and did erase therefrom the names <strong>of</strong> all persons erroneouslythereon, or who had died, removed, or become disqualified as electors from anycause; and did register the names <strong>of</strong> all persons who had duly applied to beregistered and who had been illegally denied registration; and did thereupon find andascertain that the total number <strong>of</strong> electors <strong>of</strong> said <strong>City</strong> Qualified to vote at theaforesaid election was TWELVE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-0NE (1261)3. Said Special Beer Election was duly held on Tuesday, the 5thday <strong>of</strong> Septemb",:r', <strong>1950</strong>, at the Oxfo~d ~ity Hall, OY.ford, MissisSippi, saidpolls being opened at 7 o'clock a. m. and being closed at 6 o'c1ock P. M •• Saidelection was held in full compliance with all <strong>of</strong> the laws <strong>of</strong> the State <strong>of</strong>Mississippi and <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong> and under the authority <strong>of</strong> House BillNumber 445 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>1950</strong> session <strong>of</strong> the Mississippi Legislature, approved bythe governor on April 5, <strong>1950</strong>. The <strong>of</strong>ficial ballot supplied for and usedat the aforesaid Special Beer Election was in the form as prescribed in theaforesaid resolution <strong>of</strong> your Board, and a printed counterpart <strong>of</strong> the said<strong>of</strong>ficial ballot is attached to this report and marked Exhibit B. The appointment<strong>of</strong> managers <strong>of</strong> the election and their oaths and appointment <strong>of</strong> Clerks andBa iliff <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice are attached hereto as Exhibits C and D, and E.4. On the night <strong>of</strong> the 5th day <strong>of</strong> September, <strong>1950</strong>, we met and receivedthe returns <strong>of</strong> said election as certified by the <strong>of</strong>ficers who conductedthe same, andthereupon did canvass said returns and did then find and do nowdeclare that the number <strong>of</strong> votes cast for and against the said propositionsubmitted in said Special Beer Election was as follows:For the legal sale <strong>of</strong> beer <strong>of</strong> an alcoholiccontent <strong>of</strong> not more than four per cent (4%)by weight: THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN (313)Against the legal sale <strong>of</strong> beer <strong>of</strong> an alcoholiccontent <strong>of</strong> not more than four per cent (4%)by weight:- FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY (480)we do therefore report and certify that the proposition voted uponat said election, to -wit:PROPOSITIONShall the sale and receipt, storage andtransportation for the purpose <strong>of</strong> sale <strong>of</strong>beer <strong>of</strong> an alcoholic content <strong>of</strong> not morethan four per centum (4%) by weight be permittedwithin the city limits <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>,Mississippi?
