It was brought out that certain revenuesand taxes would be available within the near future to take care <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>'s current expenditureg;"~owever,it was decided that the sum <strong>of</strong> $25,000.00 would be necessary in order for the<strong>City</strong> to meet immediately its current obligations and that a loan for such amount ~hould benegotiated. On motion <strong>of</strong> Ben J. Hilbun, seconded by Alderman T. E. Combs, it was moved thatthe Mayor be authorized to negotie.te a loan in the maXllIrum' amount <strong>of</strong> $25,900.00 for the <strong>City</strong>,and that he be authorized further to execute the necessary promissory notes or amy other paperto secure the said indebtedness. Motion was carried unanimously.* * * * * * * * *Aldermen T. E. Combs made a motion that the <strong>City</strong> issue $100,000.00 in bonds to payfor the large number <strong>of</strong> special improvements authorized and being constructed and that the<strong>City</strong> Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary papers and initiate the ~ecessarvprocedure. Aldermen B. J. Hilbun seconded the motion and it was carrj.ed unanimously.v* * * * * * * *On motion made, seconded and passed unanimousl..v, it was ordered that Bill Inmonbe employed by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong> as firemen for night duty. It is further orderedthat said fireman be paid $150.00 ner month.* * * * * * * * *Comp~ying with the request <strong>of</strong> E. P. Lowe, the <strong>City</strong> Engineer, for an increase in salary,Alderman Ben J. Hilbun made the motion that Mr. towels saleTY be raised from $250.00 permonth to $300.00 per month.
