Be and it is hereby resolved by the Mayor and Board<strong>of</strong> Aldermen <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, proceeding under theprovisions <strong>of</strong> House Bill No. 76 <strong>of</strong> the Regular <strong>1950</strong> Session <strong>of</strong> theLegislature <strong>of</strong> the State <strong>of</strong> Mississippi, that it is necessary thatstreet paving on Douglass Drive, or Street, in Douglass Drive subdivisionin the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, and in Section 21, Township8 South, Range 3 West <strong>of</strong> Lafayette County, Mississippi, be constructed,and that curbs, gutters, incidental storm sewers and drains beconstructed along both sides <strong>of</strong> said drive, or street, which saiddrive, or street is more particularly described as foll~ls, to-wit:,1A strip <strong>of</strong> land 50.0 feet wide and 666.9 feet long and extending25.0 feet north and 25.0 feet south <strong>of</strong> a center line described as beginningat a point on the east right-<strong>of</strong>-way line, <strong>of</strong> Mississippi HighwayNo.7 in Lot No. 193, as shown on the <strong>of</strong>ficial map <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, in Section 21, Township 8,South, Range 3 West<strong>of</strong> Lafayette County, Mississippi, and more particularly describedas beginning north 54 degrees 30 minutes east at a distance <strong>of</strong> 30.0feet from the northNle~t corner <strong>of</strong> Lot No. 10 <strong>of</strong> Douglass Drive Subdivision,a plat <strong>of</strong> which is on file in the <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> the ChanceryClerk <strong>of</strong> Lafayette County, Mississippi, and, also, the <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong>the <strong>City</strong> Clerk <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi~from this point<strong>of</strong> beginning, the center line <strong>of</strong> said strip <strong>of</strong> land runs, thencesouth 69 degrees 56 minutes east a distance <strong>of</strong> 286.0 feet to a pointpf curve; thence on a 10 degree curve to the left a distance <strong>of</strong> 1?5.7feet to a point <strong>of</strong> tangent; thence south 82 degrees 30 minutes easta distance <strong>of</strong> 274.8 feet to the east Aide oe Douglass Drive Subdivision.Said strip <strong>of</strong> land is further described as being betweenlots 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 on the north side and Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10on the south side in Douglass Drive Subdivision.Section 2. That in paving said drive, or street as now shownon the <strong>of</strong>ficial map <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, and in constructingcurbs, gutters, storm sewers and incidental drains alongboth sides <strong>of</strong> said drive or street, it will be necessary to lay metaland other pipe connections, and that therefor and in all <strong>of</strong> the otherworks and things specified herein, the plans and specifications preparedby the <strong>City</strong> Engineer and now on file in the <strong>City</strong> Engineer's<strong>of</strong>fice be and they are hereby a~proved and adopted.Section 3. That the grades apecified in the above mentioned plansand specifications are hereby adopted and established as the grades onwhich the above and foregoing works are to be constructed.Section 4. That the property owners whose property abuts alongDouglass Drive, or street in the area described in Section 1 <strong>of</strong> thisresolution, shall pay the costs <strong>of</strong> the construction <strong>of</strong> the curbs, gutters,storm sewers, incidental drains, water and sewer connectionsand one-third <strong>of</strong> the costs <strong>of</strong> abutting street grading, graveling andpaving in front <strong>of</strong> or abutting their respective properties, or besubject to assessment for the costs <strong>of</strong> the special improvements.Section~ ,5. That the materials with which said drive, or street,curbs and gutters are to be specially improved shall be any <strong>of</strong> thatwhich are set forth in the plans and specifications prepared by the<strong>City</strong> Engineer, which have been adopted and are now on file with the<strong>City</strong> Engineer.Section 6. That the <strong>City</strong> Clerk shall publish this resolutionas required by law, once each week for three successive publicationsin the <strong>Oxford</strong> Eagle, a public newspaper havinr a general circulationin <strong>Oxford</strong>, Mississippi, and any person aggrieved by the action <strong>of</strong>the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen <strong>of</strong> said <strong>City</strong> in passing and publishingsaid resolution may appear in person, by attorney or by petitionat a meeting <strong>of</strong> said municipal govering authorities, which shall benot less than fifteen days after the date <strong>of</strong> the first publication orthis resolution giving the notice 19'1"bvidecr for by law, and <strong>of</strong>fer abjectionsand remonstrances to said improvements, or any part there<strong>of</strong>.
