MINUTE BOOK No. 14, CITY OF OXFORDWhereas, the Board of Aldermeri, in pursuance of the will of the voters, or electorsof the City of Oxford, Mississippi, did instruct, direct and authorize the Mayor of the Cityof Oxford, Mississippi to execute a contract in substance that shown by the minutes of saidBoard, on Pages 87 through 94, on the 30th day of May, 1950; and,Whereas, .R.X. Williams, Mayor of the City of Oxford, Mississippi did execute saidcontract as so instructed, directed and authorized by said Board of Aldermen; and,Whereas, the Tennessee Valley Authority subsequently executed said contract andreturned it to the Mayor of the City of Oxford, MiSSissippi as evidence of said execution and inearnest of its intentions; and,Wherea~, it is the purpose of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Oxford,Miss1ssippi to keep and preserve said contract as a guide to its 'relations with the TennesseeValley Authority and as a reference to the said City's responsibilities, and rights andpriveleges thereunder; now, therefore, ' ,IJB~ and it is hereby ordered by the Mayor and Board of the City of Oxford, Mississippithat said contract with the Tennessee Valley Authority be received, accepted, and approved.Be and it is hereby further ordered by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Cityof Oxford, Mississippi that the Clerk of the City of Oxford, Mississippi be, and he is herebyinstructed to keep and safely hold said contract in the files of the City of Oxford, Mississippi,subject to the use, reference and orders of the Mayor arid Board of Aldermen 'of said Cit y.Alderman A. H. Avent seconded the motion that the resolution be adopted and spreadupon the minutes of this meeting.Mayor R. X. Williams put the motion to a yea and nay vote and all Aldermen presentvoted Yea. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted.* * * * * * * * * * * *The Mayor and Board of Aldermen took up for'consideration the*matter of the estimate of the City Engineer of the probable cost of the constructionof a SUbstation and the erection of a transmission line from theTennessee Valley Authroity's substation to the nEJ'W' city substation, and ofJmaking necessary extensions and improvements to the present distribution,system to the City of Oxford, and also took up for consideration the giving ,of notice of sale of bonds to finance such cost. Alderman T. E. Combsdffered and moved the adoption of the following resolution:'t'A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TEliATIVE ESTIHATE OF THECITY ENGINEER OF THE APPROXIMATE COST OF CONSTRUCTIONOF A SUBSTATION AND THE ERECTION OF A TRANSMISSIONLINE FROM THE TENNESSEE VALIEY AUTHORITY'S SUBSTATIONTO THE NEW CITY SUBSTATION, AND TO MAKE NECESSARYEXTENSIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PRESENT DISTRIBUTIONSYSTEM OF THE CITY OF OXFORD, DECLARING THE INl'ENTIONTO ISSUE ELECTRIC PlANT REVENUE BONDS IN THE AMOUNT OF$75,000.00, AND DIRECTUIG PUBUCATION OF THE NOTICE OFSALE OF SAID BONDS OF SAID CITY TO RINANCE SUCH COSTS.WHEREAS, on the 7th day of April, 1950, the Mayor 'and Board ofAldermen of the City of Oxford, Mississippi, adopted a resolution declaring,their intention to issue electric plant revenue bonds of said City in themaximum amount of $75,000.00, for the construction of a substation and theerection of a transmission line from the Tennessee Valley Authority's sub-station to the new City Substation, and to make necessary and proper extensionsand improvements in the present distribution system of the City of Oxford; andWHEREAS, the City Engineer of said City has prepared an estimateI ,.JiiI~of the approximate cost of said improvements and construction to be done by
