T H E R E S O U R C E for Adults with Hearing Loss Whether a lifelong challenge or something brought on by age or exposure to noise, hearing loss creates barriers to communication for adults of all ages and in all walks of life. Hearing loss can occur at any stage in life, and even a mild hearing loss can create difficulties at work or in social situations. For seniors, a decline in hearing often occurs along with other threats to independence and quality of life. And for those whose native language is American Sign Language, daily communication with others and accessing basic services or finding job opportunities can often be a struggle. For adults in Wisconsin who are challenged by hearing loss, CDHH is the place to find the latest in hearing assistance technology, experts in aural rehabilitation, and high-quality interpreting services to help eliminate communication barriers and reduce the social isolation often caused by hearing loss.
