In its role as the NMI, LGC serves on the International Organisation for St<strong>and</strong>ardisation (ISO) Committee for Reference Materials (REMCO),which aims to deliver <strong>and</strong> encourage a broad international effort for the harmonization, production <strong>and</strong> application of certified <strong>reference</strong> <strong>materials</strong> (CRMs).Breitländer GmbH has been a specialist company in <strong>reference</strong> <strong>materials</strong> since 1972 <strong>and</strong> was acquired by LGC St<strong>and</strong>ards in 2007, joining forces to offer the mostextensive range of certified <strong>reference</strong> <strong>materials</strong> <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards. Breitländer also brought high quality sample preparation equipment to the portfolio.<strong>Industrial</strong> Analytical (Pty) Ltd was formed in 1988 specifically to meet the ever-increasing dem<strong>and</strong> in industry to supply Reference Materials for verifying analyticalresults <strong>and</strong> proving quality of characterization. Now the single largest supplier of Certified Reference Materials, not only in the Republic of South Africa, but also in theAfrican continent as a whole, <strong>Industrial</strong> Analytical was acquired by LGC St<strong>and</strong>ards in 2011.Analytical Reference Materials International was founded in 1984 <strong>and</strong> is a market leader in the chemical characterization <strong>and</strong> certification of metal alloys. Based inColorado in the US, ARMI produces <strong>and</strong> distributes <strong>reference</strong> <strong>materials</strong> into markets worldwide <strong>and</strong> runs interlaboratory testing schemes covering a range of alloy<strong>materials</strong>.
