The <strong>Champion</strong> • Wednesday 9 January 2013SVisit us @ www.ChampNews.com • 7M–bikes, worth£3,000, stolenfrom workshop1115398Report by Henry JamesA REWARD is being offered for the return oftwo motorbikes, with a combined cost of£3,000, which were stolen from the Scarisbrickworkshop of a motorcycle company.Thieves took a child’s Kawasaki KX85 smallwheel trial bike, which was going to be used asa Christmas present for a child, a bike used bythe French Army (Cagiva 350) and alsopoisoned a guard dog during the robbery atManx Direct on Southport Road on December23.A member of the public witnessed therobbery, which took place at about 8.10pm,near the Morris Dancers restaurant. They sawtwo men running with two bikes and addedone of them ran straight into the back door of awhite van, probably damaging it. The thirdman, who was also the driver, jumped out andhelped them put the bikes in the back of thevan. They then drove off at speed.Staff went out to replace the stolen child’s trialbike, so the youngster would not be upset onChristmas Day.The Alsatian was ill for three days after beingpoisoned, but is now recovering.A spokesman for Manx Direct, which is part ofthe Southport Motorcycle group, said: “Staffhad been on a tea break, but if they haddisturbed the incident, someone could havebeen seriously injured.“It is despicable that these people stole from achild and the theft could have ruined theA picture of a Cagiva 350, which is similar tothe one stolenCode NAyoungster’s Christmas.“The French bikes are unique and we are theonly company in this country to import thebikes from the French Government. We think itwas stolen to order and it is very easilyidentifiable.
