Useful informationabout yournew Brunata Futuraheat cost allocatorCongratulations on your newBrunata Futura heat cost allocator! This leaflet tells you about Brunata’s electronicallocator Futura. It is the type of heat cost allocatorwhich we have just fitted on your radiators. Theleaflet also contains information about how toreduce your heat consumption – for the benefitof the environment and your budget.Heat cost allocationFutura is a heat cost allocator used to register theheat consumption from a radiator. All heat costallocators in the building are read once a yearand each flat is billed for its heat consumption inrelation to that of the whole building.Patented measuring conceptFutura is a heat cost allocator using two-sensormeasuring. This implies that the allocator measuresall the heat emission from the radiator (positiveheat) and all the heat emission from the room tothe radiator (negative heat). The positive heat lessthe negative heat equals the heat supplied by thecentral heating plant. You only pay for this heat.Heat from the sun, wood-burning stoves, etc. arenot registered by the heat cost allocator.Easy-to-read displayFutura is easy to read. You do not need to pressany buttons and the allocator display showsyou: Your total heat consumption this year, yourconsumption last year, the scale used and theallocator number.Consumption this yearScaleWhat the allocator showsConsumption this yearThe heat consumption is measured in units andcalculated in a counter. It is shown as on theFutura display. On day one of the new heatingbilling year, the measuring of “Consumption thisyear” automatically starts at zero.Consumption last yearThe consumption during the past year is registeredon the cut-off date of the building’s heating billingyear. The value is saved in the allocator andshowed on the display as . This enables you tomonitor your heat consumption and compare itwith last year’s consumption.Scale and control figureDuring the fitting, each allocator is adjusted tothe radiator performance through a scale. Thisensures that the heat consumption is measuredcorrectly and is comparable with the consumptionfrom other radiators fitted with Futura heat costallocators. The heat cost allocator is issued with a controlfigure (encrypted), which provides an additionalguarantee of correct reading of the consumptionwhen you read the allocator yourself. The controlfigure is shown to the left of the scale figure.Allocator numberConsumption last yearAllocator numberEach allocator has a unique allocator number. When Brunata calculates the heating bill, theallocator number will provide information aboutthe allocator’s location, scale, etc.Futura remembers everythingThe current heat consumption is automaticallysaved in the allocator’s memory. The allocatortherefore does not have to be read on the actualcut-off date in connection with moves. Brunatacan read the allocator at a later time. The allocator’s memory also registers if attemptsare made to manipulate or otherwise interferewith Futura. These registrations are checked inconnection with the annual reading, moving in andout and the processing of any complaints. The many saved measurements of heat consumption, radiator and room temperatures make itpossible to assess whether unusually large heatconsumption is due to bad user habits, faults in theheating system or the insulation of the building.Long lifeFutura has a very long life because its batteries arereplaceable. We use 10 year lithium batteries.Use heating sensiblyYou have to use heating sensibly in order to derivemaximum benefit from it:1. Use all radiators, but do not turn themup more than required to provide adequate heating.2. Keep all your windows closed duringthe heating season, also in the bedroom. Whenyou air the rooms once or twice a day, open thewindows for about five minutes to let out humidityand bad air. Remember to turn off all the radiatorsduring airing.3. Never turn off the heating in a roomcompletely. That is bad for the building you livein. All rooms must be heated, but of course notnecessarily to the same temperature.4. You can reduce the heat consumptionconsiderably by lowering the room temperatureat night and possibly during the day. Rememberthat when you want to increase the temperature, you simply have to return the thermostat valve tonormal.5. Never cover the radiator when it is inuse – this reduces the heat emission. Never hangcurtains in front of the radiator. If heat consumption is beingregistered even though thethermostat is turned offIf the heat cost allocator registers units eventhough the thermostat is turned off, this may bedue to a leaky valve or hot water flowing into theradiator through the return pipe at the bottom ofthe radiator. In single-pipe heating systems, theinflux of hot water can be so powerful that thethermostat valve has to be fitted in the returnpipe. In this way, the heat cost allocator can helppinpoint faults and inexpediencies in the heatingsystem.Do not compare readings fromdifferent types of heat costallocatorIf you used to have heat cost allocators of anotherbrand or type, you cannot simply compare theconsumption registered on the old allocators andthe new Brunata Futura heat cost allocators.A Brunata heat cost allocator registers more unitsper heat energy unit supplied than your old heatcost allocator. However, you will not pay morethan you used to do, as the unit price is reducedcorrespondingly (provided the consumption andenergy prices remain the same). The more detailed break-down ensures a moreprecise and fair allocation of the total heat consumptionin the building.
