Students will use both straight and angle drilling. If time permits,students will drill for the relock trigger (RLT), the lever screw, and receive instruction on drill andtransfer techniques. Measurements for many of the combination locks found on today’s containers willbe provided. Drilling techniques for hardplate and other barrier materials will also be discussed. How a camera works, why it does what itdoes, and how to make it work for you are the principles of this class. Photos required for tech support,archives, insurance claims, forensics, job estimation, advertising, and web site enhancement are just afew reasons for understanding your camera and how it can make money for you. Topics covered areelementary theory, low light shooting, macro shooting (close up), advanced techniques for adverseshooting conditions, and student hands-on shooting while applying the learned principles. Thursday, September 29, <strong>2011</strong> #5Cost: $155.008:00 AM to 5:00 PMINTRODUCTION TO AUTOMOTIVE LOCKSMITHING *Instructor: Stacy Hetchler, CALWith the growing complexity of security systems in today’s automobiles, key generation, bothduplication of existing keys and origination when keys have been lost, have become a very profitablespecialty for the properly equipped and trained locksmith. This class will cover the basic toolsrequired, including readers for key generation, (i.e. Determinators, Decoder King, Lishi, EZ Readers,Kobra Readers), Scoping, Impressioning, and when we have to take something apart. Basic securityfeatures of the locks will be discussed (i.e. sidebars, clutches and split wafers) and when and where wefind codes. The Instructor will cover electronic security starting with VATS and continuing withtransponders all the way through rolling code systems. Transponder programming equipment (i.e.Advanced Diagnostics, Ilco TKO, Hotwire, DMAX and more) will be covered and discussed as well ascloners, such as Ilco’s RW series, AD900 and the Zed Bull. Topics covered will be the moreadvanced techniques used to generate keys, such as scoping high security locks. Covered will be theTibbe system and the new GM, Lexus, Ford and Kia high security keys/systems. The instructor willcover eprom reading and programming. This will include transponders programmed from the datadumps and finding the PIN from reading the data dump. Keys will be programmed into a BMW EWS3 system and you will extract the PIN from a Nissan BCM unit. There will be a hands-on demo of theLishi pick/readers. The different key cutting machines available will be discussed, pointing out theadvantages and disadvantages of each. The day will wrap up with a discussion of the different vendors’software programs available to handle the newer systems, such as VW’s CAN, Ford 80 Bit system andToyota’s new system. Students will disassemble and reassemble various motorcycle locks. Manytypes of lock systems will be covered. Students will learn the easiest way to generate keys in theextended hands-on portion of the class. Tom served for 10 years in the USNavy as a Locksmith & Physical Security Specialist and went on to found several security companies.He is a certified ALOA ACE instructor and has taught here at <strong>GPLA</strong> and across the country for variousassociations and organizations. Tom is a Philadelphia Award recipient and is currently serving as thepresident of ALOA.Chuck Dixon, CML is the owner of Evesham Security Technologies in Marlton, NJ, and has over 20years of locksmithing and electronic security equipment experience. He has spent the last 15 yearsheavily involved in the sale, specification, design and installation of CCTV equipment.Tony Fiorini CRL has been a working locksmith and safe technician for 20 years. He is a certifiedACE instructor for ALOA and SAVTA as well as a certified continuing education instructor for theState of New Jersey. He has served on the Board ofDirectors for ALOA and the ILA (where he also served as Treasurer on the National level and Presidentof the Delaware Valley Chapter), and currently manages a professional lock shop for the College ofNew Jersey, where he oversees mechanical and electronic security. He has taught numerousprofessional courses for locksmiths over the past several years.Randy Mize has 32 years as an automotive locksmith and has made transponders and high-security hispriority. Mike currently serves the <strong>GPLA</strong> as the Editor of the Newsletter and is on theBoard of Directors.Joseph R Reustle, CPS is owner of JR’s Lock and Safe company in Atco NJ and has been working inthe industry for 20 years. He has been an instructor for both SAVTA and other local locksmithassociations. He also has been an assistant instructor to Dave McOmie in many of Dave’s classes forthe past 5 years. He specializes in opening high security safe, but continues to offer traditionallocksmithing and access control services to his clients.
