It is suggested that reviews <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Act</strong>s do not take place at <strong>the</strong> same time as reviews<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Workers’ Compensation <strong>Act</strong>s. It is fur<strong>the</strong>r suggested that reviews <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Act</strong>sbe combined with reviews <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mine Health and Safety <strong>Act</strong>s.Recommendations: 4.1.7 Authority <strong>to</strong> Enter in<strong>to</strong> Agreements1. <strong>The</strong> legislation should be changed <strong>to</strong> enable <strong>the</strong> <strong>WCB</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> enter in<strong>to</strong>agreements with o<strong>the</strong>r parties for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> administering <strong>the</strong> <strong>Act</strong>s.2. <strong>The</strong> legislation should be changed <strong>to</strong> enable <strong>the</strong> <strong>WCB</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> delegatesuch authority.Recommendations: 4.2.1 Environmental Tobacco Smoke1. <strong>The</strong> legislation should be changed, if necessary, <strong>to</strong> enable <strong>the</strong> Minister <strong>to</strong> prescriberegulations concerning environmental <strong>to</strong>bacco smoke in <strong>the</strong> workplace.2. It is suggested <strong>the</strong> regulations in o<strong>the</strong>r jurisdictions be reviewed <strong>to</strong> assist in <strong>the</strong>development <strong>of</strong> new regulations.Recommendation: 4.2.2 Harassment Free Workplaces1. <strong>The</strong> legislation should be changed, if necessary, <strong>to</strong> enable <strong>the</strong> Minister <strong>to</strong> prescriberegulations concerning workplace harassment.Recommendations: 4.2.3 First Aid Training1. It is suggested that <strong>the</strong> Chief Safety Officer review <strong>the</strong> regulations for first aiders atwork sites and <strong>the</strong> content <strong>of</strong> first aid kits with a view <strong>to</strong> recommending change <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>Minister through <strong>the</strong> <strong>WCB</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>rs.2. It is suggested that <strong>the</strong> Chief Safety Officer review submissions <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Panel</strong> andconsult with <strong>the</strong> first aid community prior <strong>to</strong> recommending any changes <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><strong>WCB</strong> <strong>Legislative</strong> <strong>Review</strong> <strong>Panel</strong> <strong>Report</strong> Page 125 <strong>of</strong> 128December, 2001
