4.2.5 Safety InspectionsSome stakeholders commented on <strong>the</strong> frequency <strong>of</strong> safety inspections. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Panel</strong> heardfrom some stakeholders that safety inspections were not frequent enough. <strong>The</strong>re wereo<strong>the</strong>r stakeholders who commented that inspections were <strong>to</strong>o frequent.Some stakeholders suggested that <strong>the</strong>re should be safety inspec<strong>to</strong>rs assigned <strong>to</strong> largeconstruction projects. <strong>The</strong>y fur<strong>the</strong>r suggested that if <strong>the</strong> project was outside <strong>the</strong> homebase <strong>of</strong> safety inspec<strong>to</strong>rs, <strong>the</strong> <strong>WCB</strong> should engage local inspec<strong>to</strong>rs.<strong>The</strong> <strong>Panel</strong> thought <strong>the</strong> comments <strong>of</strong> stakeholders were interesting and helpful. However,<strong>the</strong>y relate <strong>to</strong> operational issues.Recommendation: 4.2.5 Safety Inspections1. It is suggested <strong>the</strong> <strong>WCB</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>rs consider <strong>the</strong> comments from stakeholdersabout project-specific on-site safety inspec<strong>to</strong>rs.4.2.6 Best Safety PracticesSome stakeholders suggested that <strong>the</strong> <strong>WCB</strong> should do more <strong>to</strong> publicize best practices forsafety in different industries. Stakeholders <strong>to</strong>ld us that it is more useful <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> hearabout best practices and how <strong>to</strong> implement <strong>the</strong>m ra<strong>the</strong>r than what is unsafe and shouldnot be done.
