orthography: the two voices really seem to be in two different keys at this point.<br />

In this case the ambiguity is a direct result of the strictness of the canon; of<br />

Clementi’s insistence on writing ‘per intervalli giusti.’ He was not, however, the first<br />

to write apparently bitonal canons. J. S. Bach wrote a well known example, in the<br />
