1 ShareholderTHE BNP PARIBAS GROUPinformation< Contents >In 1995, the “Cercle BNP Paribas” was set up for individual shareholdersholding at least 200 shares. The Cercle currently counts 47,500 shareholdermembers. Three times a year, in alternation with financial newsletters,they receive La Vie du Cercle, a publication inviting them to take partin artistic and cultural events with which BNP Paribas is associated, aswell as training sessions. These include seminars on trading in equities(including technical analysis and financial research), on private assetmanagement and warrants, as well as economic-update sessions andseminars about how to manage one’s finances on the internet, organisedby BNP Paribas teams specialising in these fields. In addition, the Bankregularly organises scientific conferences and visits to industrial sites.The seminars are held in Paris and the provinces, on weekdays and theweekend, to enable as many people as possible to attend. Illustrating thegrowing variety of the offering, in <strong>2007</strong>, 389 events, a 9% increase on2006, were organised for 16,351 participants. One-third of the eventswere held in the provinces and two-thirds in Paris and the Paris region.Shareholders can obtain information about these services by dialling aspecial freephone number (in France): 0800 666 777. A telephonenews service can also be accessed through the same number, offeringa wide range of information to BNP Paribas shareholders, such as theshare price, shareholders’ events, news and interviews.The BNP Paribas website (http://invest.bnpparibas.com) can beconsulted in both French and English. Recently large portions of thewebsite have also been viewable in Italian. It provides information onthe Group, including press releases, key figures and details of significantdevelopments and presentations. All financial documents such as AnnualReports and Reference Documents can also be viewed and downloaded.Publications compiled by the Bank’s Economic Research unit can beviewed on the website as well. The latest share performance data andcomparisons with major indexes are also obviously available on thiswebsite. Since <strong>2007</strong>, it has been possible to calculate the return on aninvestment in BNP Paribas shares – one of the many tools that visitorsto our website have at their disposal.The Investors/Shareholders corner now includes all reports andpresentations concerning the Bank’s business and strategy, irrespectiveof the original target audience (individual shareholders, institutionalinvestors, asset managers or financial analysts). The website also has asection entitled “To be a shareholder”, which was specifically designedwith individual shareholders in mind, offering information tailored to theirneeds and details of proposed events. In addition, there is a specific sectiondedicated to the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, which includesinformation regarding the conditions for attending the meeting, ways ofvoting, practical questions, as well as a presentation of the resolutions andthe complete text of all speeches made by corporate officers. Webcastsof the sessions can be viewed by visiting the section entitled “Generalshareholders meeting” then by clicking on Records in the submenu.BNP Paribas ranked among the winnersof the BoursoScan <strong>2007</strong> website surveyBoursorama and business partner OpinionWay, which hasexpertise in the analysis of individual shareholders, have forthe past seven years conducted an annual survey in France,BoursoScan, with a view to finding the best websites ofcompanies listed on the Paris Stock Exchange. As part of the<strong>2007</strong> edition, more than 6,340 internet users gave their opinionon websites they had visited. In total, 250 sites were ranked interms of features that participants deemed to be important:topicality of the information shown, the transparency offinancial news and ease of browsing.The BNP Paribas website devoted to shareholders and investors,http://invest. bnpparibas.com, received the «Prix Coup deCœur” (the eye-pleaser award), indicating that the websitewas the favourite among first-time visitors. This serves as anacknowledgment of the accessibility and instructiveness of theinformation supplied by BNP Paribas to individual investors.Recent information about the BNP Paribas Group is also available onthe French Minitel service 3614 BNPPACTION, at a cost of EUR 0.057per minute. Through this service, shareholders can ask questions, leavemessages or order documents.1234567SHAREHOLDER LIAISON COMMITTEEAfter its formation in 2000, the new BNP Paribas Group decided tocreate a Shareholder Liaison Committee to help the Group communicatebetter with its individual shareholders. At the Shareholders’ Meetingthat approved the BNP Paribas merger, the Chairman of BNP Paribaskicked off the nomination process, which culminated in the naming ofthe committee members at the end of 2000.Headed by Michel Pébereau, the committee includes ten shareholderswho are both geographically and socioeconomically representative ofthe individual shareholder population, and two employees or formeremployees. Each member serves a three-year term.
