GALLIVARE – SWEDISH LAPLAND! Gällivare is situated at the northern end of the Inlandsbanan railway line, just about 100 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. Gällivare is located in a major iron ore mining region. Outside Gällivare lies the ski resort Dundret, which is equipped with ski lifts and ten groomed slopes. Further you will find lots of possibilities for country skiing. The ski season stretches from the end of October all the way into early May. Gällivare is twinned with Barga in Tuscany, Italy and Levi in Finnish Lapland. Throughout the whole year Gällivare offers a set of eventful and recreative adventures. In spring and summer the “World Heritage Laponia” invites to hiking and mountain biking tours. Lots of lakes and rivers with crystal-clear water virtually summons you for kayaking, fishing or perhaps gold panning.
