Property Ref xxxxxxxxxThe Resident (s)NottinghamNG3 1NQDateDear Resident(s),Stock Condition and Asbestos Survey of your homeFollowing the recent asbestos survey carried out by A.R.M (in conjunction with the StockCondition Survey carried out by Savills), please find enclosed an asbestos report informing you ofany asbestos materials found within your home, including type, condition and location of thebuilding material sampled.Nottingham City Homes are committed to informing all of their residents where asbestos has beenidentified. If you are carrying out any alterations to these identified areas, or you have concernsabout materials that you cannot identify in your home, please contact the Asbestos Team on thenumber below for advice. What is asbestos?Asbestos is a naturally occurring clay-like material, which consists of tiny fibres. It was onceconsidered a very useful building product because it is fireproof, cheap and easily shaped. Therefore, it was widely used until the adverse health effects of exposure to loose asbestos fibreswere widely known. Why may asbestos be a problem?Asbestos cannot harm anybody unless they breathe in asbestos fibres. Therefore, productscontaining asbestos do not normally present a problem unless they become damaged andasbestos fibres are released in to the air.It is very unlikely that the levels of asbestos fibres found in a domestic building would be harmful, but if you have damaged asbestos materials in or around your home you should inform theAsbestos Team at Nottingham City Homes or e-mail:asbestos@nottinghamcityhomes.org.uk.In the unlikely event, the register provided appears not to list all the materials in your home thatmay contain asbestos, or you have further concerns, you are invited to contact The Asbestosteam and a review of the information held will take place.

Finally, please remember the surveyors will not have assessed any materials covered by otherfinishes and we advise against drilling into cavities, voids, and service panels or similar. Theuse of power tools typically leads to high dust levels and alternative means of fixture forpictures, coat hooks etc such as adhesive fixings should be considered first.Where can I find out more?Useful links:www.nottinghamcityhomes.org.ukwww.hse.gov.ukYours faithfullySteve WaltersAsbestos OfficerAsset Management TeamPhone: 0300 333 0103
