Please bring a cut lunch for the first day.As a result of the camp there will be NO Year Ten classes at The Southport School onFriday 21 st May or Monday 24 th May 2010. The House cross-country event is on Tuesday25 th May and the students are expected to participate.Further details will be explained to students in a meeting at school next week. Anequipment list, permission form and medical update form are attached. Please returnthe signed permission form and medical form no later than Monday 10 th May via yourson’s roll call teacher at roll call period, via Student Services, or directly to me at theschool by email, mail or fax if that is more convenient. Unfortunately, we do require anew form as they are date specific and there may be changes in the medical situation forsome students.I will contact the parents of students who record a significant medical issue or dietaryrequirement that may need further clarification of management or involvement inactivities.Exemption from the camp has to be approved by your son’s Housemaster and theDeputy Headmaster and such exemption may require an agreed alternative programmeto be utilized.Students participating in their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award may use this camp for anexpedition for their award. Students interested in starting their “DoE” Award shouldregister in the programme before the camp if they wish to use it for their award. STUDENT EQUIPMENT LIST for YEAR 10 OUTDOOR EDUCATION CAMPCut LunchBackpackDaypackFor the first day of camp.(ensure it is comfortable and large enough)(with two shoulder straps; or small waist bag) - to carry water and raincoat on bike ride.Sleeping BagSleeping Bag Inner (can be an old sheet sewn up)Sleeping MatTentRaincoat(shared by 2-3 boys). This must be organised prior to leaving for camp. CHECK allpieces present & functional.(very reliable one)HatClothing - 3 sets of clothing : one set for base campone set to walk in on expeditionone set as emergency gear (sleeping) on expeditionInclude warm gear, especially a woollen jumperChange of underwear for each dayChange of socks for each dayShoesToiletriesA comfortable, worn-in pair for walking in; a "wet" pair for canoeing(‘reef sandals’ are NOT suitable).Medicines, suncream, toothbrush & paste, soap.Plastic cup, bowl or plate,CutleryTo include a small knife for preparing food.Cooking Utensils 1 small can opener & 1 old small egg flip per walking group, if owned. Groupbillies & a lightweight frypan may be supplied by students, if desired. The School will supply billies andbilly lifters if required, but not frypans.
