RESBYTERIANCELEBRATION100 YEARS:Peachtree’s Centennial HistoryCommemorative Book | $ 35.00On October 20, 1909, returning from the funeralof their infant son Lance at Westview Cemetery,C.S. and Ida Honour rode up Peachtree Roadthrough Buckhead toward their Roswell Roadhome. Made acutely sensitive to the presence ofother children playing in the streets of Buckheadby their loss, they were inspired to propose thattheir church, First Presbyterian, establish a SundaySchool program in memory of their infant son forthe children of their north Atlanta suburb. How does a church evolvefrom a simple out-postmission Sunday School tothe nation’s largest congregationin its denomination? This book contains that story. It features great faith in the face of distress, dynamic andvisionary leadership, and a desire on the part of its pastorsand its people to spread the Good News through the cityof Atlanta and the world. While the journey has had itschallenges, Peachtree has a history of inward strengthwhich supports its outward focus.Available in the Peachtree Bookstore,Williams Center and Fellowship Hall.w w w. p e a c h t r e e p r e s . o r g 3
