Page 14 SML Collarless sewage system for building construction SML-Product Information SML – the classic among the cast iron, collarless sewage systems from RSP include an assortment of more than 240 pipes and fittings. SML has been used in a wide range of areas for decades. These can be airport buildings, office / hotel complexes or even in apartment construction, this system performs reliably everywhere with its outstanding properties. Excellent Quality SML pipes and fittings from RSP are characterized by high quality surfaces with the best drainage properties. Furthermore, the system is impressive due to its coating quality (e.g. RAL quality), which by far exceeds what is required in the standard. One of the most important properties, the positive behaviour in the case of fire, was tested and certified for the entire RSP system by MFPA Leipzig GmbH according to the latest provisions of DIN EN 877/ A1, dated January 2010. Cost-effective and robust Soundproofing (30 dB(A)), wear resistance, mechanical resilience as well as a minimum expansion co-efficient of only 0.0105 mm /mK represents the cost-effectiveness and tested quality of RSP products. Page 16 SML – Collarless sewage system for building construction n Internal epoxy resin coating with optimized properties (approx. 130 μm) n Cast iron with flake graphite Quality: GJL-150 (according to EN 1561) n high-quality external epoxy coating paintable (approx. 80 μm) Coatings and Installation Coatings The insides and outsides of cast iron SML fittings from RSP are coated with a specially developed and certified reddish brown epoxy resin lacquer. The fittings are heated first then the powder is applied and subsequently annealed. This is to provide perfect adhesion between the fitting and the coating. The result is an absolutely smooth and almost non-porous surface offering a degree of resistance against all media in common building drainage above norm. SML pipes made of cast iron are coated with a protective lacquer on the outside which complies with the standard. The internal coating consists of a high quality epoxy resin lacquer. This coating not only meets the demands of DIN EN 877, but also the high demands of the test requirements of the “RAL-Gütegemeinschaft Entwässerungstechnik Guss e.V.” (See LGA Certificates) Outstanding durability is guaranteed, even in times where sewage is becoming increasingly aggressive. Layer thicknesses Fittings: External and internal between 100 - 200 μm (epoxy resin powder coating) Pipes: Internal 100-150 μm (Epoxy resin) External 80 - 100 μm (top coat epoxy) Installation SML cast pipes are produced in lengths of 3000 mm. They can easily be cut to size at the construction site with a pipe-cutter, a circular or band saw or even with an angle grinder, in exceptional cases. For the trouble-free assembly of pipes and fittings and maximum impermeability, please ensure the cut is precise and straight (edge treatment is recommended). RSP products are compatible with all the standards that are applicable for SML component parts. The installation of the material depends on the local situation. Please ask us about any special installation recommendations, if necessary. Generally, standards DIN EN 12056, DIN 1986 and DIN EN 1610 are valid as the binding directives for building and land drainage.
