under either <strong>of</strong> the said articles power to make, the law madeby Parliament, whether passed before or after the law made bythe Legislature <strong>of</strong> the State, shall prevail, and the law made bythe Legislature <strong>of</strong> the State shall to the extent <strong>of</strong> therepugnancy, but so long only as the law made by Parliamentcontinues to have effect, be inoperative.Article 252 Power <strong>of</strong> Parliament to legislate for two or moreStates by consent and adoption <strong>of</strong> such legislation by any otherState(1) If it appears to the Legislatures <strong>of</strong> two or more States to bedesirable that any <strong>of</strong> the matters with respect to whichParliament has no power to make laws for the States except asprovided in articles 249 and 250 should be regulated in suchStates by Parliament by law, and if resolutions to that effect arepassed by all the Houses <strong>of</strong> the Legislatures <strong>of</strong> those States, itshall be lawful for Parliament to pass an Act for regulating thatmatter accordingly, and any Act so passed shall apply to suchStates and to any other State by which it is adopted afterwardsby resolution passed in that behalf by the House or, wherethere are two Houses, by each <strong>of</strong> the Houses <strong>of</strong> the Legislature<strong>of</strong> that State.(2) Any Act so passed by Parliament may be amended orrepealed by an Act <strong>of</strong> Parliament passed or adopted in likemanner but shall not, as respects any State to which is applies,be amended or repealed by an Act <strong>of</strong> the Legislature <strong>of</strong> thatState.Article 253 Legislation for giving effect to internationalagreementsNotwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions <strong>of</strong> thisChapter, Parliament has power to make any law for the wholeor any part <strong>of</strong> the territory <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong> for implementing any treaty,agreement or convention with any other country or countries orany decision made at any international conference, associationor other body.Article 254 Inconsistency between laws made by Parliamentand laws made by the Legislatures <strong>of</strong> States(1) If any provision <strong>of</strong> a law made by the Legislature <strong>of</strong> a Stateis repugnant to any provision <strong>of</strong> a law made by Parliamentwhich Parliament is competent to enact, or to any provision <strong>of</strong>an existing law with respect to one <strong>of</strong> the matters enumeratedin the Concurrent List, then, subject to the provisions <strong>of</strong>clause (2), the law made by Parliament, whether passed beforeor after the law made by the Legislature <strong>of</strong> such State, or, asthe case may be, the existing law, shall prevail and the lawmade by the Legislature <strong>of</strong> the State shall, to the extent <strong>of</strong> therepugnancy, be void.(2) Where a law made by the legislature <strong>of</strong> a State with respectto one <strong>of</strong> the matters enumerated in the Concurrent Listcontains any provision repugnant to the provisions <strong>of</strong> an earlierlaw made by Parliament or an existing law with respect to thatmatter, then, the law so made by the Legislature <strong>of</strong> such Stateshall, if it has been reserved for the consideration <strong>of</strong> thePresident and has received his assent, prevail in that State:
