shall be the Chairperson <strong>of</strong> that Committee.(5) Nothing in this article shall be deemed to prevent theLegislature <strong>of</strong> a State from making any provision for the<strong>Constitution</strong> <strong>of</strong> Committees in addition to the WardsCommittees.Article 243T Reservation <strong>of</strong> seats(1) Seats shall be reserved for the Scheduled Castes and theScheduled Tribes in every Municipality and the number <strong>of</strong> seatsso reserved shall bear, as nearly as may be, the sameproportion to the total number <strong>of</strong> seats to be filled by directelection in that Municipality as the population <strong>of</strong> the ScheduledCastes in the Municipality area or <strong>of</strong> the Scheduled Tribes inthe Municipal area bears to the total population <strong>of</strong> that area andsuch seats may be allotted by rotation to differentconstituencies in a Municipality.(2) Not less than one-third <strong>of</strong> the total number <strong>of</strong> seats reservedunder Clause (1) shall be reserved for women belonging to theScheduled Castes or as the case may be, the ScheduledTribes.(3) Not less than one-third (including the number <strong>of</strong> seatsreserved for women belonging to the Scheduled Castes and theScheduled Tribes <strong>of</strong> the total number <strong>of</strong> seats to be filled bydirect election in every Municipality shall be reserved forwomen and such seats may be allotted by rotation to differentconstituencies in a Municipality.(4) The <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> Chairpersons in the Municipalities shall bereserved for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes andwomen in such manner as the Legislature <strong>of</strong> a State may, bylaw, provide.(5) The reservation <strong>of</strong> seats under Clauses (1) and (2) and thereservation <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> Chairpersons (other than thereservation for women) under Clause (4) shall cease to haveeffect on the expiration <strong>of</strong> the period specified in Article 334.(6) Nothing in this Part shall prevent the Legislature <strong>of</strong> a Statefrom making any provision for reservation <strong>of</strong> seats in anyMunicipality or <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> Chairpersons in the Municipalities infavour <strong>of</strong> backward class <strong>of</strong> citizens.Article 243U Duration <strong>of</strong> Municipalities, etc.(1) Every Municipality, unless sooner dissolved under any lawfor the time being in force, shall continue for five years from thedate appointed for its first meeting and no longer:Provided that a Municipality shall be given a reasonableOpportunity <strong>of</strong> being heard before its dissolution.(2) No amendment <strong>of</strong> any law for the time being in force shallhave the effect <strong>of</strong> causing dissolution <strong>of</strong> a Municipality at anylevel, which is functioning immediately before suchamendment, till the expiration <strong>of</strong> its duration specified inClause (1).(3) An election to constitute a Municipality shall becompleted, —(a) before the expiry <strong>of</strong> its duration specified in Clause (1);(b) before the expiration <strong>of</strong> a period <strong>of</strong> six months from the date<strong>of</strong> its dissolution:Provided that where the remainder <strong>of</strong> the period for which the
